Thanks for the excellent pics BB..which are doing a damn good job of making me homesick...

Cheers Petesie, how do you think I feel. Nah to be honest the short trip was just enough for me this time, saw all the faces and places I wanted to see, except the elusive "cutie" whose mysterious absence and whereabouts is finally solved on my last night.

NW and I take the route by the Middle Eastern area to Walking which takes us by the now defunct Playboy bar, as this will give us a good sweep of WS and "cutie" is still on my mind, hopefully tonight I'll spot her. I want to meet her casually and not make it look like I am tracking her down, so calling her will be my last resort when all is lost and I am heading home. Anyway fate has decided that tonight we will get delayed on our way to WS.

AS we pass Playboy I glance over at the now deserted bar where many a guy has met his "destiny" but where is she now I wonder. The wondering did not last long, for all of a sudden my name is called, and there is Tara in the bar next to Playboy. Who should be with her, but the one and only Emily oh and yeah some chick called Pookie.

Well I suggest to NW does he fancy having a liquid break and get some refreshments inside us to tide us over until we are on our way to WS. He is never one to argue over such a serious issue and so we perch ourselves up at the bar and I do the introductions. The girls tell me they are happy to see me back after such a long time, pak wan, and other niceties. NW goes to spend 5 Baht and while he is away Tara turns to me and says" You friend is very nice guy, where did you find it?" you gotta laugh. Tara and Emily are eager to get their photos taken, Tara knows the value of publicity. Alas bad news gents, Pookie has a new camera shy policy and so no images of the one and only, doesn't someone have copyright on that expression? Anyway Pookie says she is taking a break from the bar scene, while we chat at... the bar, and that when she finally comes back she plans to have a new hair style and a real tanned body, time will tell.

I look at my watch and can make out it's now about 3.30 am, man I realise I have been drinking constantly now for 12 hours, since we arrived in Sally's in mid afternoon. Like my vision, the rest of the night is a bit of a blur from this point on. What I do remember is ringing "cutie" and finally getting an answer. The girl on the other end claims to be her friend, that "cutie" is home and gave her her mobile. In my tipsy state I have no way of knowing if it actually is "cutie" herself or not, mai pen rai.

So Pookie is on a media black out. All those years of publicity sure did her well...time to take a break and enjoy all the endorsement money coming in.

After an hour or so of getting familiar with the sois of HH, we head back to the GH, and grab a bite to eat. Food out of the way, we all head back to our respective rooms, and plan to meet up downstairs in 45 minutes. Magically we all manage to make our reception rendezvous on time, and hit the mean sois. We stroll around, and first off we go to Caddy Shack, which usually has a few of ours working there. From there we continue on our travels and find an outdoor beer garden opposite the main temple where there is a live band playing fairly middle of the road safe music. After a few drinks there, we head for Soi Bintabaht, the Walking Street of HH for want of a better comparison lol. There are a few bars with LBs working on this soi, notably Nice and Easy, and Viking bars and a few more if you keep your eyes peeled.

Dav26 and May call it a night around midnight, and NW and I continue to sip away in the bar area. This area usually closes by 2 am, so at 1.30 I suggest to NW that we head over to the late bar area which stays open till around 5 am. This is a 2 minute walk from the Hilton end of Bintabaht when you turn right onto Naresdamri Road. I always enjoy a beer or 2 to kick of this part of the night in Bernie's and watch the great unwashed pass by after the Hilton closes at 2 am on their way to the other bars in this small secluded section. We are greeted with a big smile from New, the landlady here, and she seems happy to see me after such a long time. Then she utters the words I do not want to hear.

Police close bars at 2 am.

What? Even this area?

Yes new big police man in town is closing all the late bars at 2 am.

Shit.

Surely this cannot be the end of our night mmmm. We finish our drinks, and pop over to Caddy Shack 2 , in the same area, where a friend of mine Or works, to see can we get a late drink. We are in luck, but the shutters are half way down, and she informs she will have to close as soon as we finish our drinks. So it's looking like our late night is about to abruptly end at 2.30 am, or is it?

Or says a friend of hers has a bar/restaurant on the beach, 4 minutes away, and if we pay 30 Baht each for the deck chairs(this is normal during the day also) we can bring our own drink from 7/11 and chill there. This is a good arrangement with us, as the guy actually sells drinks, so really he is only making money on the chairs and any food we may eat. And so it is we find ourselves having some banter with Or and her friends till sunrise, getting tipsy on a sandy beach, it's a nice change from Linda's bar and Walking Street indeed.

Thanks Petesie, May seemed to enjoy herself, she got on well with Dav26 who has a knack of making Thais feel relaxed with his selection of humerous and naughty Thai expressions.

HH was my first beach in Thailand 14yrs ago, and my early morning walks along that long beach started my love affair with LOS.....alas it was a few years before I was to cross over errrm.....

Thanks Hoot, yes she seems to be doing well, but we all know she loves the limelight, so it will be interesting to see when she pops up on the boards again.

Same here PTB it was my first beach in Los, in fact all of Asia. I arrived there in February 9 years ago, and it felt weird to suddenly go from European winter to Asian summer in a matter of hours. I miss that absolute beginner feeling sometimes. Cheers.

was a pleasure to accompany Burrenboy and NW down to Hua Hin with my thilak ja May...

May and i were both Hua Hin virgins and to have an expet like BB to show us around all the little alley ways and bars of HH was a delight..

It definately is a lot more relaxed than Pattaya or Phuket but for a few days chilling was great fun...

May had a good time but i think 2 days was enough ...shes a great little lb and was great fun spending a few days there with her and the guys....

think she got sore feet walking around all the time ..hehe...but was always great fun ..and even in the day time she wore her heels....

gotta love her atheletic legs...she is ladeeee too mutt.....

if she had one of her Famous friends with her obviously she would have been a little more comfortable...but she is so easy going nothing was a problem...

On our last night she went to a local salon and the lady there was so nice and she chatted with May and was very interested in her ...

All in all a great little trip and many thanks again to Burrenboy for his tour guide ability...

Glad to read you enjoyed it Dav26. Always a pleasure to catch up and hang out with your good self. As you said May would have been more comfortable with someone from Famous like Rose along with her. They don't like to be away from their friends and comfort zone for 2 long I guess.

Regarding the lady in the salon, a few guys who have been to HH for the first time have commented that they find the locals friendlier than elsewhere. They don't seem to be as jaded with tourists and it appears to be a more genuine smile. Or maybe they are just better actors.

Sunday May 1.

I get a call from Dav26 about mid day, asking have I eaten. Not since 6 am I inform him, so yeah I am peckish again. No reply from NW, so Dav, May and I head out and have a bite to eat in Jungle Juice, a bar off the main area, that does Western and Thai food at a reasonable price. I get a call from Putytat and he says he is about an hour away from HH, and will catch us later in the afternoon. Food finished we head back to the Celtic Inn to see has NW risen from the dead yet, he has fortunately, and is eating in reception. Within 20 mins we are heading off for a few hours on the beach. Along the way Rai, who I know from previous trips passes with her friend Rinne and says hello. For a bit of craic(fun) Dav buys May a kids bucket and spade to bring with her to the beach, you had to be there. We grab a few beach mats for good measure.

We have a bit of a swim, and just relax on our new beach mats and shoot the breeze. The sand on HH beach is very fine, so you really have to be careful if you have a camera, iPod etc with you. After a few hours we are getting restless and call it a day. The beach is quite busy for HH, a lot of Thais down for the holiday, usually it is quite deserted this time of year. As we are leaving the beach Putytat calls again and tells us he is over in the bar area having a drink if we are near. We drop over to see him, have a brief chat and arrange to meet up later for dinner.
