Sorry to hear your news matey.. Like many, I've been there as well and I just got straight back up and started looking immidiately. Lucky enough I did find something, wasnt what I really wanted to do, but I was earning again and I found it better looking for a job I wanted whilst in a job... rather than doing it on the dole.

You'll find something matey, you are a resoursefull dude and have the get up and go to get yourself sorted again..

Keep your hand in on the forums as well, plenty of networking can be done there too as well as keeping in touch with your buddies..

OTS,

I too am sorry to hear about your difficulties. You're a friend to all of us, and we don't want to see you disappear from the forum.

Life is all about changes, and you are obviousy in the midst of one right now. Hang in there buddy. We'll be partying with you soon in LOS before you know it!

OTS sorry to hear about this, lots of good advice from fellow BMs, and I would encourage you not to give up the forum, even while you are spending time looking for a new job.

Try to look at it as an opportunity as well. In 1995 the hospital I was working at reduced its bed capacity from 350 to 120 and laid off a corresponding amount of staff. I was fortunate enough to get a better paying job overseas that allowed me greater holiday time to visit LOS, plus was only a 6.5 hr flight away instead of 22 hours (including transit time).

I wish you all the best searching for your new job!

it shows that ots is a really nice guy, and well liked, due to the postings he has been getting due to the rotten situation he finds himself in.
you have been worse off pal, and got through it, chin up, and what comes around goes around, and with you being a great guy, that proverb will prove productive for yourself.
feel for you, especially at this time of year.
it may not be much consolation mate, but remember you are not alone, you know i am only a phone call away.[/u][/code]

Great to see so many of us lending our support to one of our own in this difficult time for him. It is possible that if OTS felt like it and posted what his work background is, maybe some BM here is also in that field and could be able to give him some pointers to possible work opportunities.

Just a suggestion, but it seems in this day and age personal contacts are the way to go. In a way we are a type of secret organisation, with our particular sexual preferences, so why not try to look out for our own.
We laugh because it is true.

owever, I am very sorry to hear about your redundancy.....hopefully you have secured a reasonable pay off.

If it is a reasonable pay off then it's a few months in LOS here I come :D

Getting laid off really sucks but focusing on what's next perhaps a long sabatical in the LOS may recharge your battery before your next gig.

It doesn't have to be expensive, monthly rents are cheap, and know lots of guys living here spending less than 1000 baht a day on all other expenses.

If you have enough frequent flyer miles m,aybe u can snag a free flight.

Best of luck OTS and let me know if u need any help finding a cost effective monthly rental.

I would just like to thank all you guys for the support and advice !

I finish on the 31st January so I have time to way up my options. I have decided not to go to LOS in December. Depending on what I get in the way of redundancy. I am thinking of taking time out and going to LOS in February for as long as I can.

Then when I return I will then start looking for a job.

Shit news mate, was looking forward to having a beer with you in december.

As the others have said, don't make yourself a stranger to the forum, it'll be a poorer place without ya!
