Sweet&Wild,
Totally disagree with your appraisal of the Thai economy.
The Thai currency is artificially inflated and that is a fact. They are wrecking their own economy. The baht is above what it should be and the rest of Asia believes this. It will readjust and I for one will wait and take advantage of it when it occurs.
Man, I hope you are right Putytat. I'm tired of my currency being so beaten down worldwide......and now in Thailand. Geez.....

It isn't officially the biggest industry. But I doubt the sex trade money gets counted in that total.Let's face it, tourism is Thailand's biggest industry and it will always be that way. Time will balance things out.
(2008)
Automobiles and Automotive parts (11%)
Financial Services (9%)
Electric appliances and components (8%)
Tourism (6%)

This is perhaps a slightly better place to get the real rates on the street at various banks. Still a bit shy of 30:1 today but it has improved lately.current US to THAI BAHT 1-30
