As Cookie continues to lift the temperature its a good thing new aircon was installed yesterday as part of the continual re-vamp to keep Guess Bar at the top of the popularity league. Talking of which, I noticed last night a Johnnie Walker Red label and soda in Guess bar is 115baht - compared with a LB bar in Pattaya charging 140b for the exact same drink but with a 1/3rd of the number of hostess staff, attitude by the bucket load and zero aircon. Who says Bangkok is more expensive

Couple of events are upcoming featuring the new BBQ menu which goes hand in hand with party nights.

Fri 29th July is a first for Guess and will be a bikini night BBQ.

Fri 5th August will be a tight jeans and boots BBQ night for those who like the boot thing. All hostess staff will be decked out in matching tight black boots and blue jeans.

Here are some pics from the Bikini BBQ which took place last Friday 29th July. Kebab anyone?

Another well supported event and the girls loved the opportunity to wear bikini's. I think all the customers did as well as the new ring the bell promotion went down a storm - every lady drink (alcoholic) is only 100baht and the thing hardly stopped ringing all night making for some slightly intoxicated girls in bikinis. 100b I hear you say, yes - 100b for each lady drink and its alcoholic - so 15 girls in the bar is total of 1500baht. Every lady gets her commission and is happy so much. If you think Bangkok is expensive, think again.

The next BBQ is this coming Friday 5th August and will be featuring a considerably upgraded menu. The headline grabber is without doubt the imported Australian Prime Rib Kebabs. This beef is truly superb and simply just does not get any better than this. Its already been tested and ever guy who tried it confirmed it is up there as one of the best steaks they have ever eaten (and the testing panel included guys from the US and Australia). Coupled with baked potato, Sour cream, salads and the usual array of marinated kebabs - Guess Bar is lifting the bar on quality foods. And the best thing? Its all free to well spending customers. So is the condition the lady drink will only cost 100 baht "IF" you ring the promotion bell?

Lady drinks on a one by one basis are regular price plus 30b so in that case, it would have been 150b drink, the only one I can think of at that price level is either a Bacardi Breezer or a full blown cocktail such as a Margarita. A cola is 110b, Regular whiskey soda is 130b, JW Red Label is 145b, Jack Daniels is 160b (all these are LD prices, not customer).

The 100b per girl offer is for ringing the bell and avoids customers getting big shocks, i.e. they see 15 girls and they know its a 1500b bill - the girls normally choose Sambucca, Tequilla, whiskey soda or the current most in vogue drink which is Absolut strawberry vodka with Sprite. To some degree its worked out in advance which drinks each girl prefers and the bar staff know accordingly what to serve given there are often 15-20 girls in the bar at any time, speed is of the essence. However some girls do not drink alcohol at all and they have fruit juices normally.
