No need to start another thread - the situation in Pattaya was posted by Petesie - and don't expect answers right away as curfew was imposed in Pattaya as well.

This thread is where the updates are happening: Under Emergency

Surely Chonburi, not Pattaya, is under curfew?

There seems to be a news blackout here - i just came home to watch tv, and the only information is being reported by BBC World. All the thai channels seem to be broadcasting the usual pap, but no news!

Surely Chonburi, not Pattaya, is under curfew?

Pattaya (the City) is in Chonburi (the Province) - the curfew applies over the entire province of Chonburi and is aimed at ensuring Lam Chabang port functions as normal. (Lam Chabang being the largest deepwater port in Thailand and totally critical, like Suvanapoom airport, to the country). Ironically there is hardly any issue in Pattaya itself - the people understand their livlihood is tourist dependant however its a blanket decision to lock down the whole province but ONLY between 8pm and 6am - after 6am normal business activity will return.

Cheers

Central World used to be called the World Trade Center until they changed it because of G.W.'s visit. Now it's just like the other World Trade Center - very sad!

Not sure how so much mis-information comes about but the building being referred to above had its name changed when CENTRAL retail group aquired it from its previous virtually bankrupt owner. Once they had done it all up and extended it - they officially changed the name. The old World Trade Centre was stuck in the '70's - the name needed to be changed and it follows Central's branding strategy for their malls (i.e. they are all Central something).

Cheers

I apologize if that was a crock. I thought it was a reputable site. Like they say - if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Mea culpa.
