As far as I remember, the Areca has a strict no smoking policy in the pool area and rooms.

The ashtrays in my room didn't give that impression.

DC think the ashtrays are just there for the Yabba heads to throw at customers when arguing about money.

And what about the Internet connection?

I have not been happy with PBR on recent trips: connections have dropped, some rooms have very weak reception and at times it grinds to a halt.

And what about the Internet connection?

In the Evergreen (new building) the internet connection is excellent, I don't recall a better connection in Thailand - It is wired.

Thanks - I'll book it!

It's sad to say goodbye to PBR but I did find it's WiFi connections increasingly annoying. In some rooms it was necessary to find a decent spot even to get a connection, it would often drop and sometimes only worked in the foyer.

Stayed in the Evergreen Suite for 10 days earlier this month in a deluxe room, it was very clean, great pool and very good Thai Breakfast.

I would point out that they were enforcing the 20 year old rule of only taking any GG or LB back over the age of 20, they told me this when I booked in and when I asked the night guy what the score was.

I personally would have stayed at Pattaya Bay Resort as cheaper and I didn't need the extra luxury.

But a good hotel all the same and with a ass hose for the record!

I did stay here ā€“ in the Evergreen wing ā€“ and was suitably impressed.

Main advantages over PBR were:

- Rooms
- Internet connection
- Larger safe (takes a laptop)
- Breakfast
- Pool

And Iā€™m staying there again at the end of this month.
