the best time to visit is the dry season nov - march but that is also the more expensive time and more visitors time

You have a lot of reading to do Glascow. Its all here pretty much. As far as the best month it all depends on you. BKK doesn't really have high and low season. You might want to avoid Buddhist holdidays if you like to go out drinking.

I agree with Petesie about forgetting bangkok, but our choice of alternate destination would vary! If you like looking at temples in the baking heat, then stay in bangers, otherwise get outta there.

I recommend February, as its still dry (and hot) but a little less crowded.

Though i agree with my mates here, i would suggest you to spend something like three days in Bangkok (if you have a 3weeks' holiday or one month, it should be on the cards!). There are so many things to do in Bangkok. You won't regret it. Among things of interest to do or see:

-Nana Entertainment Plaza Soi 4 (lots of gogo bars...gg's and lb's)
-Patpong (an alternative to Nana Entertainment Plaza) a bustling and crowded place)
-Exceptionnal choice of hotels, bars and restaurants (a meal on the Chao Praya or at the top of a skycraper)
-Many massages parlours,
-Shopping in the big commercials centers along the Skytrain on Sukhumvit road
-Amazing temples next to the Chao Praya
-The floating market
-Thai boxing at the Lumpini stadium or the Radjadamroen stadium
ETC ETC ETC
