Having visited the Philippines many times over the last five years or more and Thailand only once so far I'd sum it up like this.

The Philippines has a lot of ladyboys but on the whole they're not really up to the standard of the girls in Thailand as far as looks and surgery goes, also there is no real organised ladyboy scene in the Philippines so you won’t be finding ladyboy bars. The infrastructure and standard of service in the Philippines is lower than that in Thailand also it can take a long time to get from A to B if you've moving around the Philippines.

So for ladyboys go to LOS. On a positive side I find the people of the Philippines far more genuine than the majority of Thais I have met but that may just be the fact that Filipinos are far more western in their outlook having spent many years under first Spanish rule and later prior to gaining their independence by the USA. The standard of English in the Philippines is also on the whole much better as it's their joint first language (Tagalog being the other official one).

I'm not doing down LOS or the Philippines here, they both have a lot going for them and I'm not as familiar with LOS yet. I do love the Philippines though, have had some really good times there and no doubt will have a lot more but for now I want to spend more time in LOS and get a better feel for it, the people and their culture.

Don't let this put you off the Philippines though, there are some very beautiful ladyboys there (I've been fortunate to have met quite a few of them) and the GG's can be pretty spectacular too.

As to destinations, Angeles is a bit of a dump but if you're looking for GG's there are more then you could get through in several lifetimes and they're pretty sweet too. Baguio and Samar are places I love but it's not so P4P, more hunt them down and take them out for dinner (obviously you'll pay in one way or another, you always do). I've heard good things about Cebu, Puerto Galera and Borocay but the best looking and most professional girls I've met in the Philippines have been from Zamboanga way down South.

The same rules apply when visiting either place, don't leave your brain and common sense at the airport and keep you wits about you at all times.

Forgot to mention the weather, as it will be November when you go you'll be at the beginning of the dry season so expect some rain but it shouldn't be too bad and at least it's warm rain. Other then that I can't tell you a huge deal as the country is so big the climate changes quite a bit between the North and South this will give you a rough idea though:

For more spacific details just google for the weather in what ever locations you plan on going to.

250 years in a convent, and 50 years in a brothel sums up the recent history of the Philippines! Spanish and US colonial rule.

As someone lucky enough to have had an apartment there for a couple of years, along with a delightful Binibing Pilipinas to welcome me, I confess that I like the place. Been almost everywhere from Ifugao down to the Sulu Islands, and most places in between. I was there when the Ermita district was as notorious as Patpong, when the long road named MH del Pilar was home to hundreds of clubs and bars, years before the mayor cleaned up that area, and if you tried to put on a condom, the girl would snarl and accuse you of thinking she was not clean!!! Those were they days...

They are a very welcoming hospitable people, badly governed by the most corrupt 400 families. However, they are always looking to escape their situation, and eligible men are always introduced to sisters, cousins, nieces, in the hope of a marriage. And of course you will marry and have to take care of the family, not just the wife. And they also have a number of well-known scams, just like in LOS, to relieve you of the heavy burden of cash in your pocket or wallet. Don't pick fights, you are liable to find yourself staring at 10 balisong or butterfly knives of your opponent and his friends, just chill out and go with the flow.

Filbert gave a good description of the place, and I would add that there are lots of freelancers, more so than in LOS. Almost anyone working in tourism, hotels, restaurants, entertainment can be available, esp. for a foreigner, esp. for an American - the lure of The Green Card is very strong.

GGs abound, and most of the hotels and tourist spots have lovely magazines with details of model clubs, escorts, bars, show pubs, and of course anyone in the hotel will be able to find anything you want - just ask. My personal record was checking in to a hotel, and within 30 seconds the phone ringing, and a delightful softly-accented voice asking if I wanted company!

LBs - there are plenty on this forum who would take care of you, just search, as well as gay pageants, fashion shows, and of course magazine and internet adverts.

I'd avoid Mindanao if it is your first time, it can be troublesome, but Cebu, Kalibo, Mindoro, or North to Ifugao and San Fernando La Union are great.

Food is variable, beef cooked in blood, marinated raw goat, and of course the balut or duck eggs can be trying, but some of the noodles, lumpia, and fried food are great. Kalamansi juice is a refreshing drink to start off your day, and don't miss a chance to try some lambanog or local moonshine... If you are there during a festival, you won't go hungry.

The average Filipinas are generally better educated than the Thais, and obviously it is much easier to hold a good conversation with them. Manila girls are very worldly-wise, as the press is very good in the RP, though it does have a very US slant. The ATM mentalilty is not so intense, though as a rich foreigner (in their eyes) you will be expected to take care of them.

Anyway, go there and have fun... it is very hard not to.

Not really, sometimes they do something in Manila but most activity is in the far south, Jolo island is not a place to visit nore is it wise to go to the far south of Mindanao , the thing that tends to blur things there is that criminals and terrorists tend to use the same kind of tactics so sometimes criminal activity is misreported. I doubt you'll have any problems at all unless you're very unlucky.

Here is the current advice given out by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office:

http://www.fco.gov.u...nia/philippines

In a nutshell:

We advise against all travel to south west Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago because of ongoing terrorist and insurgent activity. We advise against all but essential travel to the remainder of Mindanao. There have been terrorist attacks against civilian targets in Mindanao: in the past two years these have included roads, buses and shopping malls. Since 10 August 2008 there have been clashes between insurgent groups and the Philippine Armed Forces in North Cotabato, Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte provinces of Mindanao. There have been reports of civilian fatalities and thousands of people remain displaced. See the Terrorism and Local Travel sections of this advice for more details.

Unreal as in a lot of fun and just so much to do, a lot smaller than Pattaya but worth the trip.

The Filipinas are a lovely mixture of Latin passion in an Asian body ... tempered by some catholic values, filial duty to their extended families and obsession with Green Cards. The head of their church was named Cardinal Sin!!!

As to their physical dimensions compared to Thais, both are big enough to allow a baby's head and shoulders to pass through...
