I would suggest that sayang is talking about the competition in it's present (much wider) format where it is known as the Champions League.
No club has retained the trophy since it's change in 1992.
Also, it is both sad and interesting that some of those teams posted as previous winners or runners up are now well and truly in european football's wilderness

now i am being a picky bastard, as even they have changed the new set up, remember how it is the now, then uefa changed it to two league stages, then changed it back.
still the european cup no matter how it is tinkered with, so sorry man utd fans many teams have done this back to back thing before.
however lets not forget, it would still be a fantastic achievement

i would not want rangers to win it, only celtic, i realise that celtic will not win it some time near, as due to the cash flow problems, ie no tv money here.

Thought you might like to know that the frirst team to win it on British soil was Real Madrid.

True !! I see what you you are saying and yes it would be the first team to win under a diffrent name, ie The Champions League. I agree it as changed the set up of the compertition as well. The fact remains it's still the same trophy.
Lets not foget they have changed the set up of the World Cup many times, granted they have not changed the name.
I don't even wana go their with the league cup as to how many names it has had or the change to the Prem before division 1. They are still the same trophys.
