I have flight booked from Shanghai on 23rd....Im worried about getting in, and hoping i cant get out!
I read on the china daily website that 5 planes have gone to rescue chinese tourists in Thailand but not sure from what airport or where they picked the chinese up.
Any one IN thailand maybe could give us an accurate update on the situation???
Cheers!

Its only 45 mins from Pattaya, so not too bad its the queues and the 7 hour f'ing check in which takes the total p***!!!!
http://www.thaiair.c...a_situation.htm Thai Air announce Check in at a place in Bangkok.
The whole thing sucks, bought tickets with netflights...in all fairness if Thai can't do it they will refund and reroute you thru another location, but this still is gonna be a lot of hassle.

Thank god i booked a business class J Flight with Eva from LHR...
I'm not sure that will benefit you much on the ground, if U tapao has only one X Ray machine, it probably won't have a lounge
Seriously, a lot of negative comments here guys. "can't handle the extra hassle or piss poor airports". We're LB addicts FFS we should be prepared to walk from Malaysia over a 1000 km of broken glass to reach our holy grail.
I'm flying on Xmas day, with the wife, so my LB moments will be a couple of stolen hours, but there is no way I am considering that we won't make it.
First there is an important court case winding up today, it concerns allegations of vote buying by many Gov't MP,s. The decision is expected later in the week, if it goes against the Gov't that could be the end for them.
It is clear that the PM has no power to end the crisis, he maybe even willing to let the current situation continue. But others, the military will not let it go on indefinitely. The damage to the economy and Thailand's reputation, Asean summit due in 2 weeks, will ensure something gives soon.
Even if the airports remain closed through the Christmas period. U tapao, Phuket and Chiang Mai will increasingly be used, once the currently stranded passengers are evacuated, passenger numbers will be lower, (inevitably there will be cancellations) so these other airports should cope.
If the worst comes to the worst and Thai cannot get us to Chiang Mai we will try for KL or Singapore and connect to Chiang Mai by Air Asia or others.
One last point I have read that the airports will open 48 hours after the demonstrators leave, maybe not 100% normal, but certainly operational. the millions $ being lost every day will ensure they open a.s.a.p

Phil Lander: Theres always Manila if theres still chaos in march, I doubt it i havent booked my ticket as yet, But i have book my hols through work i just cancle them, and plan something else if they still going on about it, I will certainly look at Manila as an option.
You will love it in Manila Gaz , just bring your buddies as Body Guards as its nothing like Thailand .
I was talking with a friend at the weekend and his brother in law has been sent to Bangkok .
He's in the Special forces so something may be about to happen.
