Yes its gotten very hard to get a ticket to Phuket at the moment, Singapore Airlines have been working with some of the other airlines to reroute thier flights here into Singapore and then having Silk Air ferry passengers out via Phuket and to a lesser extent ferry some in.

Try bookng a Phuket hotel at the moment most are full as many are still stuck and quite a few have been told to head there as they have a better chance of getting out.

I had intended flying over this coming Friday for 3 days but I dont see it happening. Even if the police move in now and turf the protestors out chance are they will damage the facilities and then it would be days to get up and running again.

I did see some talk of commentators saying the government would have to step in before the end of December!!!! Being optimistic my guess is it will be another 7-14 days before things return to normal and thats probably from the date they clear the airport!!

So PT is Voodoo still in SG? I'll take him out partying if he is...

On the plus side us mongers are hard to put off, but the regular tourists tend to be more nervous so in the short term I can see cheaper flights for us and hotels available. But it might damage the longterm with bars etc going out of business :(

Some tourists are running out of money and others now have expired visas. Tourists with expired visas should make their way to the Immigration Office located in Soi 5 off Jomtien Beach Road where we understand that if evidence is produced to confirm they have been forced to remain here because of the problems, free visa extensions will be given. Many are hoping that the nearby Utapao Military Airport in Sattahip will be used for international flights, however due to the size of the airport it is unlikely that regular international flights will be possible. If you require urgent repatriation you must contact your Embassy who will listen to your case and make a judgment if an urgent evacuation from Thailand is required. Other options such as travelling to Cambodia or Laos by road are also being considered by some Tourists at this time.

DAMN IT :x

I have bought a plane ticket last July for a flight from Paris to Bangkok with Thai on November 28. My flight was canceled, as well as the whole trip!

How come that the police cannot or does not want to cope with those PAD idiots blocking the airports?! Could you imagine something similar in another country, maybe except India?

:x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

yeah.. the whole police vs army vs PAD vs PPP vs Somchai vs the dear old king himself.. its waaay more complex than it seems. too much to get into here- if you spend some time here or live here or are on the ground now you would get the picture.. sort of :) but yeah frustrating. this whole mess for me just sums up this country to a tee- the idea of the new fanstastic modern thailand. the new shiny airport..in which now thousands of PAD grandmas and kids and middle classes with nothing better to do, sit around singing songs and waving those bloody hand clappers ( just like the bargirls do :)..and buy nice yellow protest t-shirts and souvenirs. the whole things a theme park. and of course someones makin money.. although it wont cover the 500mill or whatever the country is losing per day!

but hey T.I.T
...this is thailand
