I don't agree with you on this Brit.
I don't think a prime minister abusing his power as he has, should get away with just like that.

Even if he will not go to jail, it sure sends out a signal that this is not tolerated. And yes I know corruption in politicks and high ranking official servants are constant. But trying to deal with, and reduce it, there is no better way to start but at the top.
I think that the corruption at the top, makes people lower in the systems feels they can do it too.
And that is where we will feel it.
So dark, the con of man..

They're all at it if you dig deep enough. Some are just more obvious than others.

I was just saying they need to focus on getting foreign investment right, bolstering and stablising their economy. Not looking back.

The other thing is no publicity is bad publicity - and its just keeping the country unstable by harping back to Thaksin all the time - actually i think they are playing into his hands more than punishing him.

There is VERY VERY tough times ahead - wait until middle of next year in Thailand when the exchange rate & credit crunch has scared away all the tourists. I realise its not thailands main source of income - however i predict grim times ahead.

If there's no tourists the bars close...
I spent a lot of money on LB's in Nana Plaza, Patpong and Pattaya. The rest of the cash, I just squandered

If only we had reciprocal visa arrangements with Thailand.

Thaksin Shinawatra would have used up his two month visitors visa, followed by his overland visa run to France. This would now mean he was an illegal alien.

Instead we open our doors to anyone, especially with money, letting him kick a fucking football around up in Manchester.

Sometimes it's shameful to be British.

Extradite the fucker and let the Thais deal with him.

I've got a fear that there are simmering problems in thai politics at the moment can could result in a more physical coupe than before.

This would be very bad for the thai tourist industry.

Don't know if the guys know - but Thaskin's on some national tele-cast on next saturday - It will enflame the situation in Thailand for sure.

I predict more troublesome unrest, and problems in the coming months.
The economic situation will compound the problem and possibly ignite the fuse.

a difficult time for the King the Thai people and in fact the military

The King cannot intervene as he supports the democratic process which occurred late last year. also many of his people voted for the current government.

the real problem is that this current political crisis is causing a very real divide between the city people (mostly BKK) and the remainder of the country

Brit suggested that there maybe a coup soon. I am not convinced as the King is not in a position to support the military this time given the recent (fair??) elections.

and I doubt that the military will go against the wishes of the King.

I agree Brit troubling times for Thailand
pela is no more. a necessary name change to prevent wife turning me into a post op
