I can't speak for Sacramento, but having been a long time San Francisco resident, I can offer the following:

Hotels:

Depending on what you're after (close in proximity {walking distance} to the action, cost, luxury, etc.), you have many options, however SF is a very expensive hotel city.

There are a number of boutique hotels on Post Street (and one block over on Sutter), 1/2 way down towards Union Square.

Check out this site. http://www.personalityhotels.com/

TG Places:

DIVAS:
The "major" club for TG's is DIVA's, on Post St (between Larkin and Van Ness). Their website is divassf.com. Lots of working girls there, the shows are good and some of the girls are simply outstanding. Not sure anymore about their nightly schedule, but they used to be open 7 nights a week.

Trannyshack:
A specialty club that operates on Tuesday nights at The Stud at 9th and Harrison in SOMA.

AsiaSF:
Not a meet club, but a great restaurant that has TG servers with a floor show (a la Lucky Cheng's Style). Food is good, experience is great but not a cheap night out and none of the girls are P4P (except for Trina (only works Sat), who can be found on Erosguide SF. 201 9th Street at Howard.

Power Exchange:
This is a fetish/sex club that is very TG friendly and has two clubs in one. Upstairs is couples only, the 1st floor/basement is mixed (hetero/TG/gay). Lots of trannies to play with in the club. No alcohol served. Thursday and Sunday there is no dress code. Fri/Sat, street clothes cost like $75 to get in, or pay $35 and wear a towel. Website is powerexchange.com. 74 Otis Street. Not far from the other places, but take a taxi, as most people don't know where Otis Street is.

Street action:

On most nights after 11, the circuit of Post, Larkin, Sutter , Hyde (forms a square) is the hotbed of TG street action. This will sometimes extend to Van Ness, and there is another small area down on by Van Ness between Turk and Eddy that the girls will hang out at.

Additionally, after 2am (bar closing) all the Diva's girls who are working will hit the street.

Enjoy SF!!

Trent, you heard correctly. Weird and wild barely begins to describe Trannyshack. On top of everything else, after around 11:30 pm it is PACKED, to the point that you can't even move (sort of a drag).

It is, however worth going to at least once if you're in SF.
