hi people
we all hear many scary stories about AIDS in Thailand. especially concerning LBs and gays.
but maybe someone heard or witnesses real stories of people being infected in LOS ?
or maybe someone was infected himself ?
or some well-known LBs with AIDS ?

the only story i heard from one expat in LOS is that in Patpong and Nana Plaza 30-40 % of prostitutes have HIV.

It's extremely negative and drepressing to elaborate and tell HIV stories.

The facts and figures on tyhe amount of bar girls and LBs that have HIV regularly crop up but always differ hugely without evidence, so it's only fair to be skeptical at best.

i don't think it's necessary for anyone to post up a HIV story or rumour, but it's always a good reminder that if you skin up you are safe, and if you don't you have to be aware of the risks and tkae responsibility.

I concur. The data isn't very reliable, but you should assume the worst. You should also assume that every LB or GG you shag may have HIV. Using this method, you are always going to protect yourself.

I had a condom break while receiving once.
I'd run out of good condoms and used the shitty Thai brand in the room.

The next day (naturally concerned) I went to Bumrungrad hospital, had a test and got a load of PEP drugs.

Dr said if the ladyboy is negative I shouldn't need to take them.

Later that day I had the Ladyboy take a test (I paid). She was negative.

I still took the drugs though.

Afterwards she said as we're both negative we can go bareback!!!!
Not a chance.....

I would never want to go through that again.

I thought the tests were taken over a period of time and then the changes would reveal as to whether you had Aids . I dont think there is an instant test . Unless technology has advanced lately.

Technology has advanced a bit lately, however it still requires minimum of 6 weeks when the latest method is applied(down from 12 weeks). So yes there is a chance she caught it in the last six weeks and then bareback would still be unsafe, and don't forget HIV isn't the only nasty thing you can catch as Hepathitis B and C aren't a real joy either.

Yes the rates of HIV are depressing and even though they vary a lot I find even the lowest estimations to be really hardcore. This may be a reason to find it depressing, but like said earlier when you suit up there isn't any chance of catching it as long as the condom holds. No condom break is 100% no risk. Keep that in mind. To ensure that the condom doesn't break use a lot of lube. Make sure this lube is water based when using a latex condom(which make up the majority of condoms). Apply the lube every15 minutes or so to prevent it from drying up. Never under what circumstances use oil based lube with regular condoms, as that will cause them to tear up.

Another last thing, which is speculative indeed, but still somewhat reliable. Even if your condom breaks and you are the one stuffing it in her, the chances of catching HIV are remote. Some studies have shown rates as low as 3 to 10000! It is somewhat different for you guys that like a ladyboy doing you, because the same study indicated 3 to 1000 infection rates in this course of action. Now these figures are gathered from questionairies and can be far from accurate, however for some reason it still helps me sleep more sound at night. I am by no way suggesting these numbers are an acceptable risk to take.

Yeah I was concerned about her being negative and the 3 month window - where she may have contracted HIV, which wouldn't show up in a test the following day.

I mentioned this to him and he said, there is a chance she could be positive, but he believed the risk was low for me to be infected.

That's the protocol they go through in such scenarios.

Although I took the course of drugs, he warned me about the side effects.
Her being negative could make me think twice about going 28 days with those drugs what with the side effects (which don't effect everyone).

And it was a relief the next day in the doctor's room when he said to me she was negative.

Those were the days indeed, through to the amorous 80's too - fluid exchange was the norm - condoms were hardly used, except for the roughest girls and boys in bars around where the military hung out. Of course the down-sides were accusations of fatherhood from GGs on your next R&R or holiday trip there, but how on earth could they know it was you, when some of them were having different guys each night? Or where they?

DNA testing - you'd never trust it - a couple of purples to the lab would have ensured your name on the baby.

I have not mentioned that my first time with an LB I was not prepared for action so used the Condom she had provided which broke around the shaft . I was tested afterwards and was ok but it makes you worry abit.
