If you think they're a ladyboy, then simply ask. If they are, they won't be offended. If they're not, you've saved yourself some aggravation.
As far as making them 'feel cheap", just treat them with kindness and respect and you'll have no problem. You'll find that many are very playful and will happily take the lead, so don't fret on this point.
Thanks Auto, I always try to be good with them and I still have some good LB friends from KL & S'pore.
