"Gift-giving" and "bug-chasing" are concepts that mostly relate to certain hard-core gay scenarios. The "gift-giver" is HIV+ and the "bug-chaser" is HIV- but wanting to be pozzed, bred, impregnated (being bareback-fucked to become HIV+) by the "gifter". They also engage in blood-slamming and other activities with the sole purpose of "passing the bug".

I've not yet read any postings here (or at other Asian lb fora) suggesting that this particular kink exists in this community. How ever, I have read postings where the ladyboy almost insisted on topping the guy bb...

So what do you think? Is this something we should all take seriously? The fact remains that ladies who work as prostitutes may not always be so considerate in putting on a condom. So the HIV percentage is probably high among these girls - of what ever gender. Maybe as high as 70% (the last number I heard).

And if they start a "gift-giving" campaign...

It always makes me suspicious when someone insists not to use a condom. It's happened twice to me, and I didn't oblige of course. In an emotional state I was told by one she had tried to get it as she didn't care about living. It was a scary experience, but in Europe.

I like ladyboys but am not turned on at all by men. I would guess most of us here are the same. I have a friend that is gay that wanted nothing to do with ladyboys when he went to thailand. He found what he wanted but it was young men.
My point is that it would seem logical that hiv would be lower in the tranny community because most of their lovers are not sleeping with other men. This is pure speculation. It is also comprimised when the girls take off their make up and work the gay bars.

I think it is very hard to believe any statistics on infection rates as both sides of the arguement have their own agendas their pushing. The bottom line is we could speculate all day and still be guessing. in my experience most asians i've been with don't really seem to be too into safe sex and i've heard ridiculous statistics about hiv rates. the first gg i fucked in asia i got pregnant, and the first lb gave me a dose of nsu infection. i then started to cover up obviously. i now can't bring myself to go with another hooker in thailand. last time i was in pattaya i couldn't help thinking about the fact that newbies go bareback out of ignorance, old drunks do it because they have to, to get off, and girls do it because they don't value their lives that much or because of ignorance.

Let me clarify... the high HIV percentage among T-girls in Jakarta was told to me by an HIV testing clinic worker here (a transsexual herself btw). I still find it very hard to believe, though, even among street-girls, but who am I to challenge the experts?

And about bug-chasing and gift-giving I have never met the phenomena here in Asia. To my knowledge this is primarily (solely?) a thing in Western gay barebacking communities. You may have heard of the socalled "breeding-parties" where a willing HIV- bottom is being "bred" or "pozzed" by several HIV+ tops.

But this - how utterly horrible it may sound for normal folks - still is a consentual act. Another and more sinister concept is the idea of "stealthing" where an HIV+ top deliberately tries to poz an unsuspecting HIV- bottom. And when I more than one time read about guys going with a ladyboy who insisted of topping him without a condom... well, it got me thinking...

I don't know and it may be completely untrue and a storm in a glass of water.

i have never heard about people who are willing to be infected by HIV. usually it happens to unsuspecting men.

usually i thought those infected ones wanted to transmit HIV like an act of vengeance, like AIDS-terrorism.
but one man from the words of his friend-doctor mentioned me that in Patpong and Nana Plaza 30 % are infected by HIV.

Udress... hey I'm sorry! I don't say this to upset any one or to create a panic. And again remember that this is probably just a "trend" in rather hard-core Western gay-communities. Don't forget there is a bareback "cult" there with a sexual activity that leaves the rest of us light-years behind...

About an HIV+ top feeling a need for "revenge", how ever, yes, I've heard of that too. Though this is not necessarily the main reason for the socalled "gift-givers" (they tend more to get off on pozzing unsuspecting negs not as revenge but more for the power rush) then it MAY be the case here.

When I went to have my HIV test a couple of month ago, the very nice transsexual counsellor, indeed, mentioned that some guys here (Jakarta) do that. And given the fact that she works in a clinic primarily dedicated to transsexuals (ladyboys)... hmmm...

I have NO reason to suggest that any prostitute ladyboy wanting to top you bareback is looking for any revenge - maybe she just likes the feeling of barebacking (who don't?). But there's reason for concern.

Unfortunately the ladies them selves rarely take part in any debates here (except for a selected few), and anyways I'd think that topics such as this one pass way over their heads. Gift giving/bug chasing is a tony sub culture mainly of the western gay community. There are a lot of bareback enthusiasts amongst all sexual persuasions, but this is alsmot always 'at the risk of' catching hiv, not in attampting to catch or give it.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the Thai LB scene and it's not really worth pondering in this context. There are LBs who are willing to do bareback and some that actually prefer it, but I don't believe these people are actively trying to give or recieve hiv.

I've never heard of an LB raping a customer - not without the customer requesting and paying for it, at least. And so it always comes down to 'up to you'. An LB is never going to stop you using a condom, and even if she is you can head back down to the bar.
