Greetings,

I've always doen a two week stint in LOS, but this year decided to make Cebu my base station. I will probably still sojourn to NEP and Phuket. Regardless, a couple of quick questions, if anybody would be kind enough to answer:

1.  LB friendly hotels - I'm more a 4/5 star type of guy, but will do 3 star if nothing else. Was thinking of booking in at the Quest (near Ayala) are they LB friendly? And if so, do they do the turn in your national ID at the the front desk type thing?

2. Daytime fun - I've read elsewhere there are a reasonable amount of FL near the "terraces" at Ayala in the daytime, still true? And what should I expect to pay a FL?

3.  Should I walk anywhere, or jeepney/taxi/moto it?

4.  Is MAngo safe after dark?

5.  Any islands I should visit, maybe Camotes?

6.  Is it worth flying up to Baracay for a night or two, and if I do, what's the LB scene there?

Oh, I see. This is one of those unfriendly forums. That's okay. I'll figure out myself.

This is not an unfriendly forum - the more likely reason is that the Philippines experienced board members have not yet seen your question. Most of the board members who have actually traveled to Asia have gone to Thailand.

If you wanted a faster answer you could have private messaged (pm) someone who has posted a Philippines trip report.

I have been to Philippines several times and will be back there again later this year. The LB scene is completely different.

1. Your best bet is to email some hotels you are considering and ask the question, also keep a copy of the reply on your mobile as you may get a different answer when you are there.

3. Unless your with a local I would avoid travel on Jeepney. Always dress down, keep valuables out of site.

2. For rates just email some from Backpage/Craigslist/thaifriendly. Let them know your not a first timer

Here is a guide for Mango sq

ST - 1,000 to 2,000 php
LT - 2,500 to 3,500 php

4.yes it's pretty safe, just use common sense.

5 & 6 nice places to visit but LB scene is limited

Hope this helps

I go to the Philippines almost every month but mostly to Makati in metro Manila with an occasional visit to Angeles City. I seldom go to Cebu but the last time I was there [several years] I stayed at Marriott which is near a shopping mall that was teeming with LB's and GG's after 9pm.Marriott at that time was very user friendly about guest of any gender.
Torgue is right that the LB scene is very limited. Your best bet for freelancers in metro Manila is P. Burgos Street in Bellaire where there are always freelancers of all genders trolling the street. There is an LB bar there called Mixed Nuts. Or to Malate where I understand there is an LB bar also. I have never been to either but understand from this forum and others that they are okay.
When in PI, I rely on contacts I have made through various online sources such as camcontacts.com and previously I'mlive.com. I usually stay at the Makati Shangri-La when in Manila. It is five star and very liberal with respect to guests. If walking in with a guest[or more] on your arm they are very discreet and no questions asked. If having someone come up to your room, simply give the front desk the name and ask them to escort the guest to the [lift] elevator [key card required for the elevator] or leave an extra key in an envelope with the concierge desk. Also if you stroll over to Green Belt shopping area [5minutes] there are always a gaggle of freelance GG's and LB's hanging around Club Havana, Starbucks and Seattle's Best.
The previous post is right on with respect to jeepney travel, dressing down, valuables and security.
