LOL, I spent ages preparing for my trip to LOS read each and every post on this forum (lb69 ) , but I endedup doing what you did got taken (literally buggered) by the first LB I met when I "accidentally" walked in to pook swan soi buakhao . Endedup spending loads of money, and having loads of 3somes unfortunately it was too good so after after almost 5 years, I am still here LOL, but I do agree with you about the research (but not too keen on doing stuff like memorizing the serial numbers of all the 1000 baht notes that I carry for the night etc )

Sorry jfrank but I disagree with your approach to this. My first trip to LOS really turned sour as I didn't do sufficient planning before heading over there. I got sucked in like a typical LOS newbie time and time again. People trying to con me into gambling scams, the dreaded tuk tuks taking me everywhere except where I wanted to go, taxi drivers not going by the meter, so many easily avoidable things if armed with a little knowledge. I won't go into a rant on this but I will say that my first trip would have been much more enjoyable had I learnt from someone elses mistake rather than my own.

Absolutely TOP advice! from a real Pro

the first thing that happened to me was the "up to you" test , at which point I said "FREE?"

When with a ladyboy, don't accept "up to you" on the subject of money for their time. This will be the more expensive option....and any offered "freebies" (which will cause you to think, "wow, she's really into me"), will come with $trings attached. Know the going rates for long and short-time trysts. They vary by location and demand.

Always keep your valuables locked in the safe, or well hidden.

But mostly, study the Q&A threads and the Trip Reports. With that, you will be well-equipped for a first-time LOS adventure.

Read, read, and READ !

  Not that you have to worry about the really big issues such as your safety, but there is just so much information out there from the moment you leave your abode to go to the airport until your return for your cup of joe in your kitchen.

 

   Example...Travel   So many ways of saving money.  Hell, there are some amazing ways to travel Business Class or First Class, for just a little more than Coach retail  ( just ask me about this one I found)

 

    Dealing with the Airport upon arrival in Bangkok, Avoiding overpayment for money conversion,

dealing with the crazy taxis and there routine overcharging, Finding accommodation, ex stay a few days in a cheap hotel and scout out whats around with a real estate company. Food, avoiding severe Thailand belly, the right massage, attitude.  It just goes on and on.

 

   For those of us who have made repeated trips, traveled around the countries in South East Asia,

and have had longer stays, we have learned a formula, shall we say, for contentment and success.

 

  So instead of sitting in front of the TV in your hotel, or waiting until nightfall to go out because of the heat, talk to expats at out of the way bars, and wander !  Be adventurous, if you don't ride a motorbike

befriend a moto bike taxi driver and have them show you around. 

 

   And finally, learn some THAI !  Amazing what fun when you ask your honey, (a GG)  Mee Luk Mai ?  ( do you have a baby ?)  I was told this would be a way to find out if a prospect has a flat belly)

I found this advise was not fool proof.  Got back to the room and found more ripples than the Indian Ocean.  She then tells me...BABY DIE    What is the cure for foot in mouth disease ?

Well, I prefer the girls, but, oh my god, the Russian pros in Pattaya are a terrible deal, or if their price does equal their Thai counterparts than you can bet they're uglier than the oldest beach road slapper.  I just avoid them altogether anymore.

Gosh are they that bad? I generally find even the most average Russian pretty cute but maybe I haven't met enough.

was thinking about dipping my toe in some Russians but idk if they have racial issues(these days it's huge) and after reading this i'll likely same my time and cash.

The Russian women who stand near the pier outside WS charge the same as Thais, but they're not average, quite below average. The average and above average Russians work the discos, or the Russian gogos like Galaxy etc.

 

Disco prices starts at ~5000baht if it's late, past 2am, some ask for 8k-10k, but that will come down a little.  I only tried blonde Russians, so the chubby dark haired ones may ask for less.  As far as inside the Russian gogos, huge waste of money, and the girls will just flat tell you that barfines are available, but it's a date only, no action, those places are just a tourist trap for S.K and Japanese customers, better to go to E. Europe.

If I went to Moscow(which i will not) it would be cheaper that's a ripoff
