It is not uncommon to hear stories of people being stopped at immigration on their way home and to have their laptop searched and possibly seized by officials if they believe or suspect it may contain images of a banned or illegal nature. The likelihood of this occurring is presumably increased when returning from countries such as Thailand or the Philippines, which have a greater reputation for mongering etc.. It can also play on your mind upon departure from your vacation.

One of the best ways to avoid this to ensure there is nothing for them to feel suspicious about, this is where 'cloud' storage can be very useful. By uploading all your juicy images to your cloud and then removing everythng suspect from your laptop and your camera you can feel more relaxed when standing inline at your home immigration.

I use several free cloud services, such as SkyDrive and Dropbox, but the best I know of currently is Mega.co.nz.

Mega currently offer 50GB of FREE storage.

It is much easier to just have an extra memory card for your camera. Take some G rated photos using the extra card, and don't forget to conveniently pack the X rated memory card. Works like a charm as I have had customs/immigration look through my camera before. The " beach and out on the town" pictures work great.

As for cloud storage, I use Box.com. 50 GBs free just as with the others mentioned by DC. -Swedeman007
