It is not uncommon to see posts on the forum where the "Quoting" has become broken. This is due to the syntax of the quote function being incorrect, which can render the post disjointed.

Remember:
1. There must always be an equal number of opening quotes and closing quotes, you can insert your own messages either before or after using quotes.
2. If in doubt, check your post by using the "Preview" button before submitting it.

Sometimes the only way is to show by using examples: -

Thanks PT, me too.

Unfortunately it is a commonly used, but awkward function to get to grips with.

Have you ever wanted to respond to a long post by someone and split it up into different parts so that each part can have it's own separate response?

Tip:
1. Decide beforehand roughly how many responses you wish to make
2. Click "Quote" on the other BM's post in the thread in the normal way
3. When the reply box appears with the quoted content, click Ctrl-A to highlight all the text
4. Use Ctrl-C to copy, then Ctrl-V to paste it as many times as you need
5. Delete the unnecassary text from each copy and insert your replies between each
6. Take care not to delete any of the Quote syntax in the process, use Ctrl-Z to undo mistakes
7. Use "Preview" to check prior to submitting

Cheers Anthony 8)

... how do you quote two people on one reply?

The way I quote two people is: -

1. Click "Quote" for the first of the two posters, then Ctrl-A to highlight all text, then Ctrl-C to copy the quote

2. Press 'Back' on your browser to return to the original thread

3. Now click "Quote" for the second poster and place your cursor at the start before the Quote (if you want them to appear in chronological order)

4. Press Ctrl-V to paste your first copied Quote, then delete any unnecessary text from either or both quoted posts

5. Add your own responses after each quote and add a carriage return or two between your first response and the second quote, for spacing and clarity
