He is fucked and from what I read. As a child of the 60's I've consumed my share, but what idiot uses drugs in Thailand much-less attempts to manufacture them? Little sympathy from me on this. Tam Dee, Dai dee; tam choo-a, dai choo-a

In my experiences in Thailand, these situations are actually always true and correct. I don't recall one such example of a genuinely innocent person getting 'set-up' especially by external guys (i.e not Thai's). I do know of guys who were busted and they were as guilty as they come and had tended to be known dealers/distributors for a while. Given I have zero knowledge of illegal drugs and I knew about them (and thus gave them a wide berth) - its a given that the people who's job it is too know, will do.

Further - to say that the defense has no documents about the case will be correct - there are no laws to provide this information prior to the trial itself.

Yes, thats what i mean. I don´t buy his sobstory how some unknown guy taught him do cook meth, and then vanished prior to the raid.

He was on his way home to serve a 3 year sentence for selling illegal steroids.

He knew exactly what he was doing.
