I know a few of us are quite familair with the what some refer to as 'the Darkside' or Pattaya, but for those who don't knw it, it's very basically the large area east of Sukhumvit road which hosts a suprisingly large number of girly bars.

I love heading out that way for a long afternoon/evening of fun. It's probably not for those on short vacations but anyone feeling adventurous and wanting to sample some of the bars off the beaten track, or feeling a bit jaded with the Pattaya scene and wanting to try a different, more laidback vibe, the 'darkisde' of Pattaya is well worth a visit.

A lot of the bars are heavily spread out but I've attached a map which shows over 50 bars currenlty running.

In terms of getting there, it's best to get motobike taxis (around 80bht each way from central Pattaya), and there are a few around the streets though no where near as many as you'd find in the heart of Pattaya. I have seen BB walk it, but it's not a walk I'd recommend to everyone! A few bars in Pattaya organise bar crawls around the darkside., which might be the way to go for anyone wanting to explore for the first time.

It would be great to get some stories, recommendations and pictures from the guys who have been out that way, and perhaps we can map out where the LBs are hiding too. There are ladyboys to be found out there!

I'll follow up with a few of my favourite bars and try to dig out some piccies.

The Titty Twister is one of my favourite darkside bars.

It's a bit of a biker bar and great if you like your hard rock (lots of AC/DC, Motely Crew etc.. But it's still a very inviting bar with all welcome.

They also have regular live music of the rock nature, and the girls working there tend to fall into the rock chick category, think red hair, jean shorts, fishnets and heels

They also have 2 of the best kept pool tables I've seen, which they pride themselves on having.

It's one of the hardest to find unfortunately, well off the beaten track on a pretty empty stretch of road and easy to miss, but definitely worth hunting out, especially for the live music.

They actually recently opened the Titty Twister 2, on 3rd road next to the Castle/Buffalo bar. I haven't had achance to chekc it out yet.

One of my favourite darkside bars was the little shack which was Corner Bar. It was only a tiny place but had up to 6 fun ladyboys working there and some great tunes. Unforunately it closed last year but most of the staff seem to have moved to the much larger and plusher Pussy Cat Bar.

I noticed at least 3 ladyboy on my last visit there, plus 4 or so girls. It has a nice vibe, good free pool table, reaosnably priced beer and pub grub. Worth checking out.

I believe it also has short time rooms available.

The Titty Twister

I´ll never forget Selma Hayeks dance in front of Quentin Tarantino in the bar Titty Twister in Mexico. That was a biker bar too. Really hardcore.
Movie was "From dusk til dawn" by Robert Rodriguez.

Go Gress has been a very recent favourite darkside bar for me, mainly because of one particularly cute girl.

It's a fairly small bar but in the past has always been well staffed with around 7+ girls usually knocking about.

No pool table, but the drinks are fairly reasonable again and I'm sure they have a few short time rooms upstairs (as coco can confirm ).

Some honerable mentions..

Dao bar always seems very popular with other darkside dwellers. The fun is all out in the back, behind the cafe. It's hard enough to find the front bar/cafe, and then harder again to find the bar where the action is. But this all adds to the sleaziness of the place.

The girls are very forward and it's much more of the Soi 6 vibe than most of the others in the area. hmm, I wonder why it's so popular..

I had a great night in the Cock Inn once, I can't see it on the map, but the Cross Roads bar is on the map and that's been gone for a while, so I can only guess the map is slighlty out of date.

It has an OK pool table and a few of the girl are decent players and alot of fun to hang out with. The cheap drinsk also help!

The Butterfly Bar is a strange one, it's further up the beaten track and kind of in the middle of nowhere, it's mainly a GG bar and they all seem a bit fresh out the packet, BUT half of the bar have had breast enlargements, which outside of ladyboy and agogo circles is not the norm.

They still have great attitudes there, if anything they are all a little too shy, but there's a lot of fun to be had.

With this information, I think that going there I will look like I belong.

yes the upstairs rooms where very clean and had air , with a shower with hot water ...... I will give the rooms a thumbs up ..

and the girl I had was also nice .....

The Drunken Duck (Soi LK Metro) often has a bar crawl to the darkside once a week. But it will be to GG bars and not a LB crowd.

The Butterfly Bar is just past the crossroads of the Siam Country Club Rd and Elephant farm Rd, a lot of the Girls live in rooms just to the left of the entrance door into the Bar.
This place has been going for quite some time, remember taking a GG there with the most enormous breasts and spending New Years Eve with Her around 1989 .
