I recently had the chance to revisit one of the strangest bars I've ever had the pleasure to visit, Kinky's. The bar is located in a barangay called Calapandayan (cal-a-pan-die-ann) in Subic City. The bar is located on the national highway about a 10 minute ride north of Barrio Barretto. Barrio Barretto has grown a bit in the last few years and has a number of foreign owned GG bars. It is a one hour trip from Angeles City and has become a popular beach side trip for many going to AC. Cheap transportation is available from AC to Barrio Barretto. There are a number of places to stay and nearby (walkable to Barretto) Baloy Beach also has a number of hotels right on the beach.

To get to Calapandayan from Barrio Barretto you take a trike or a jeepney. The best known bar in Calapandayan is Players a GG bar. Any trike driver will know how to find Players. Once at Player cross the street and walk on down the road a couple of hundred feet to Kinky's. The typical trike fare is around 100 pisos. If you ask how much some will say 100p and some will say 150p. I have gotten the trike fare as low as 70p but I usually just settle for the 100p. I'm not sure how much jeepney (an ugly slow hot baht bus sort of thing) fare is but probably around 10p.

Kinky's is a mix of GGs and LBs (five currently). But it is a total mix. Some of the pictures I took of the LBs (bakla in the Philippines) prancing around in the bar were taken with the GGs present. I got a bit lucky with the pics as I was the only customer for a while and they really put on a show. The bakla here want you to take pictures. Calapandayan is known as a pretty much "anything goes" in the bars type of town.

ST here is 800p (~US$17) all in. The rooms are small with a twin bed unless you take two girls and get the bigger room. No shower, a bit of a shock to Thailand fans.

This bar is always great fun for me. And as the name implies it really is kinky.

Many thanks for this info xyzzy.

I had seen a post on the web about the bar and was in Subic a few weeks ago but could not find the place. Got lost and ran out of time so headed back to Manila.

Very keen to check it out, will be back there next month and will be sure to check it out.

Once again, thanks.

A great bar. I notice the lovely Sandra displaying her wares along with Roxy and Samantha.

I'm kind of surprised that I was looking at the signs posted on the door, but I find that No Credit sign hilarious.

Can you imagine the type of goofball that would ask for a line of credit in such a place?

Great post @ xyzzy!

Great post @ xyzzy!

This is a 4 year old thread - though I remember the bar (I guess we can call it a bar) very well.

I was in Subic last November and decided I'd go take another look, however, all that was left of Kinkys was a pile of rubble, literally. Though some would argue that a pile of rubble would be considered a major refurbish for that establishment.

I can't tell you whether it was torn down or just fell down as a result of the many rats tunneling through the walls, but it's no more, it has ceased to be, this is an ex-bar.. It was the shit-hole of all shit-holes but I'll kind of miss it.

Yes it was a shit hole although a very fun sleezy shithole. And it is no more. Players Bar I referenced as a land mark has changed names at least twice. There are still some bars in this area but not much good intel on where to find LBs. And some of the Filipino places will rip off a foreigner with stupid drink prices/LD prices. A GG will sit down without asking and an expensive LD will show up automatically.

The Subic Bay section on the piatnight board is probably the best place to get somewhat recent info about the bars in Calapandayan. There usually is at least a little info on which bars are foreigner friendly. But I'm not sure where the LBs of Calapandayan hang out these days.

A few of the gogo bars on Barrio Barreto had ladyboys during my last Subic trip (Nov '13), one had 4 ladyboys on staff, I think it was called The Salty Dog.

It reminds me of the Titty Twister from the movie Dusk til Dawn... I really would not have been surprised if you told me that the staff turned into vampires at midnight...

There is actually a Titty Twister in Pattaya, over on the darkside of Sukhumvit road. It's a bit of a biker bar and puts on live rock music, worth checking out if that's your scene. However, neither that bar or the one in the movie have anything on Kinys, even Vampires hesitated to enter that place, those rats ate bats for breakfast (or maybe supper).
