Anyone know a good place to pick up a set of speakers and an amp for a cheap price in Bangkok? Fed up of listening to music through a tinny i-pod dock.

you can find some good shop at the top floor of pantip plaza..just take on your left after the elevator( don t enter in "it mall" and follow the corridor shops are hided so don t be afraid to" explore" desert corridor
otherwise you will find some good shop in Fortune center..on rachada avenue( there is fortune hotel here and tesco supercenter) you can go there with subway..shops you re looking for are on the 2 and 3 rd floor.. nearest hotel side.;they are not close of computer shop...good quality but a little overpriced..
otherwise flea market.dirty cheap price and you often can test them..but it s cash and carry and bad surprise can happened
in the last case have a look in pawn shop

Didn't have much luck at Pantip or Fortune. Mostly very high end stuff, way over my budget. Cash Converters was also overpriced considering the age and state of the equipment they were flogging.
Might have to try the old thieves market near China Town.

The latest B&W docks are passably good......Zeppelin & mini zep....so because space for me is an issue my Musical Fidelity A5 gear and Castle Speakers are looking redundant.......oh I spent a fucking fortune on inter-connects..........
