Guys

Firstly ive been a lurker on this site for a couple of months. You really all need congratulating on the absolutely amazing resource and community you have built here.

I have a specific question about accomodation in Bangkok. Firstly i've looked at the extremely useful map and noted the hotels in best proximity to the ladyboy clubs / bars. I have to be honest they look a bit plain and im ridiculously fussy about hotels and security. Ideally i'd like to stay in the Marriott shown on the map and take girls back there, but I suspect that absolutely isn't allowed in a five star hotel.

Im looking for solutions. Can I stay somewhere top flight and maybe take girls to apartments for short times ? Could I also rent a cheap apartment for the duration and use it during the day ? This seems a very expensive option.

Any gents - any advice is most appreciated. Also is there a diary on here so guys in BKK at the same time can hook up ? Adventures are best shared !

Thanks :-)

Hey Flyingvee:

I'm not entirely sure what you are seeking in terms of luxury. If some of the more appointed properties that are highly touted here (the DIG or Majestic) aren't to your liking, then the high end hotels may be your only option, and this may limit your LB activities back at your pad.

You are correct, the apartment option will be more expensive and I'm certain it will not be an improvement over some of the recommended hotels (from a quality perspective) How long are you planning to visit? Under a month, and the apartment rental may be much less of an option.

For what its worth, I previously had a suite at the DIG and found it to be very nice (and I'm fussy to a point, myself). Security was first rate and the location can't be beat.

I'm not sure about how LB friendly the more traditional 4-5 star hotels are, but certainly they can't compare to the tried and true recommendations from the forum.

As far as a "diary" or calendar function, the forum doesn't have one of those, however BM's who are going to be in LOS typically post in the "classified" section and just put the dates and locations of their visit. We're a pretty friendly bunch, and there always seems to be at least one or two BM's around at any given time (unless the moon and stars align, and you get a Legend's tour).

Cheers.

No problem to take girls or lb´s into the JW Marriott. The other 5 star hotels on Sukhumvit (Landmark, Sheraton, Westin) are guest friendly as well.

thanks guys

I checked out the DIG website - it does look quite smart actually. What is the food like there ?

How much would a Suite be ?

Thanks again !

I don't remember exactly what I paid, but I think it was around 2400 baht. The suite was an upgrade for me, as they made an error in my reservation date and I was in a day earlier than they expected and my other room was unavailable.

I know their rates have gone up a bit since my last stay there (last October), but even still, it's a nice property for the money and the location is spot on.

As far as the good goes, i've only eaten breakfast there. I tend to never lunch or dinner at hotels, as I prefer eating natively as much as possible.

I wasn't aware that the DIG had suites available.

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that there is one standard of room. Their prices also went up other Christmas so know you'd be looking at 2880bht per night.

If you want higher end hotels, close to the bars and LB frinedly just go for the Marriot or Landmark.

Kliome:

I think they may call their regular rooms, deluxe and their deluxe rooms, suites. I know the "suite" was quite a blt larger than my deluxe room last time. if you look under the "hotel fact sheet" on their website, they refer to deluxe and suite rooms.

Not sure, but in any case the place was damn fine.

never stayed in a delux, but for me it is a good room if there is a hook on the wall for the shower head.

Having stayed in a few "4/5 star", I woudl have to rate the Majestic Grande as at least 4 star; and very convenient to Soi Nana 4.

Centrepoint Apartments are simialr price (c. 3300Bht) for a very well appointed studio with full breakfast. At least equivalent to a 5 star hotel room.
