Hi donnykey,

Nice chatting to you last night, and thanks for the photos.

I should have guessed you'd have a few interesting surprises in your collection ! :D

Look forwarded to catching up for a beer or two shortly.

Cheers

I flew from Chiang Mai to BKKK last year, it's a very short flight, just under two hours if I remember correctly. Compared with the 10 hour bus ride or 12 hour train journey (yes the train is slower than the bus, and it's non stop..) the flight is worth every extra penny.

Great pix by the way. They have a kind of vintage quality to them..

Pornping Tower Hotel is probably the most popular with LB enthusiasts.

Others I have stayed at which are well located and "adequate" include;

Suriwongse Hotel

Star Hotel

Duangtawan Hotel

Montri Hotel

I have also stayed at The Royal Princess & The Empress although these are slightly more upmarket & priced accordingly.

Keep in mind that the scene in Chiang Mai is alot more sparse and not "in your face" like Pattaya and the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.

You really need to know where to look, although there are still plenty of opportunities for action.

Cheers

nice with some more recomendations.... :D

i liked the top north(moon mouang soi 2) because theres no "walk of shame" as you dont have to pass the reception, and also no joiner fee as a result.. :D

i know its a bit "run down" but for 600 a night it was okay

You're right, i remember it being a very quick flight, and adding that they still severed us a snack and drinks it went in a flash.

I'm sure with the right company the train ride would be worth it.

My experience of taking the train was a nightmare. I took the over night, which included a bed and meal, I can't remember the price but it was very cheap. But the bed wasn't very comfortable and a group of Korean guys were playing cards and arguing all night. I'd only been in LOS for 36 hours and was feeling a bit jet lagged.
