How do I get there?

I hear flying carries a heavy surcharge into Samui, is this the case?

What other options are available and do you have any URL's or company details e.g. train company and where they are located in bkk.

Thanks in advance

Hi Raymondo,

You can fly to Koh Samui via Bangkok Airways for around 5000 Baht return. which is equivalent to a little over 100 EURO.

It is also possible to fly to Koh Samui from Pattaya via Utapao airport.

Alternatively there are options which involve either trains or buses to Surat Thai, then a ferry across.

Bangkokairways and Thaiairways run flights there from Bankok which you can usually get for around £80, plus it is usally free to change you return flight once you are there.

The cheapest way to go is by VIP coach. A ticket can be bought for around 800 to 1000bht from a travel shop. and will pick you up from your hotel, it's a 10hour coach trip followed by a few hours on the Catamaran, stopping at Koh Phangan and Koh Tao on the way.

The best place to go for the VIP coach trips are Koh San Road, where one of the companies (forget the name) is based, and you tend to get a slightly cheaper deal there amongst the cheap charlie backpackers
