Slightly delayed feedback on this front but a month a go I had a quick pop by Bangkok and had the "corporate booked" hotel and also the relatively price effective hotel I paid for from my own pocket as a just in case measure.

Expensive hotel was pre booked and paid.....I rang on the day of check in, said I was going to be a day late, please keep room I would be there tomorrow. Told no refund, wasn't a problem, it was a work related issue. Check in a day late, but also had plan B up my sleeve,

Check in, head out on the town and around 10pm check into hotel #2, leave reception to the street not the room and my night continues. Returned to hotel #2 much later and the corporate room sits empty barring a suitcase for the 2nd night,

Mid next morning the corporate hotel is ringing me........constantly. They are demanding to know why their hotel room is empty.

Has anyone else experienced hotels demanding to know why rooms are paid for, but empty?

Hotel #1 isn't the most friendly place, either guest, or "guest" but for me its free.......a few bucks from my own pocket for somewhere nicer is much more desirable.

Maybe they were concerned you were dead, arrested, kidnapped or in the hospital.  Not normal for someone to check-in, leave luggage in the room and then not come back that night.
