Why not try take a look at the new Lumia 520...seems it will do the trick and the price is really good

i've no idea what i'm gonna do now. I'm not sure i'd want to drop down the range that far! I have read good reports on the htc 8x I think it was so I might check that out. What I could do with is using one for a few weeks to see if windows mobile is viable or not. then today the news came re the s4 mini but the plastic finish on a premium priced product doesn't sit with me too well to be honest. I know people say use a bumper case bla bla bla but I have never used one yet because it just adds further bulk to already substantial sizes.
sometimes I wish the smartphone had never been invented! life was simpler then

Actually looking for a new phone. My iPhone 2 crashes too often now (great phone, survived numerous songkrans, drops and throws).
Saw the chinese OPPO phones for sale here. Quad core, 2GB ram, 16GB Memory, Android 4.1 for $500.
The thing thats stopping me is what if it breaks when im back in canuckland.

I have seen the oppo handsets here in blighty but they are like golddust! I read that htc are doing another version of the 1x but with an sd slot and I must admit this phone does look real good with the unibody design and reviews are good but alas said version is only going to be released in the Chinese market, bloody typical, we get the shit over here now

Theres the Nexus 4. Also a Quadcore phone. The 16gb is roughly$500 if ordered directly from Google. Good price for a quad.

I was always bought up never to buy LG products lol. I have had a play with the nexus 4 though and it is good but again the lack of sd card support on stock android handsets puts me off completely, I prefer to have a 64gb phone or capability to slot in 64gb sd. I did see the htc 8x earlier on amazon for £280 which is a good price too.

Dont know if you can find this where you're at but my brother is picking me up a Jia Yu G4 Advanced from China. Quad with sd card up to 64 gb.

might well take a look at the s4 mini but(theres always a but!)...why do Samsung have to butcher the specs to make it half an inch smaller, there are other phones of the same size as the s4 mini that pack the same spec as the full size s4
on a more funny note, I noticed someone yesterday making a call on a Samsung mega...now a 6.3 inch screen on a tablet is ok but when it's on a phone it's just plain wrong, anyway he looked a right cock having to hold the phone with both hands

on a plus note for a change, my works are going to furnish me with a nokia lumia 920 for a few weeks so I can take a look at windoze 8 mobile.
