How much advance notice for a trip to LoS?

I've never been to LoS before. How much advance notice would I need to book lodging in a hotel in Pattaya friendly to our cause, and get non-exorbitant airfare to BKK from the U.S.? (Out of Boston Logan, if that matters.) Is this something I can do on, say, 3-4 weeks' notice?
Speaking of which, Boston Logan is the most convenient international airport to me, and I'm used to flying out of there to Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. For this, would it be better to get myself to JFK or EWR? I notice that more airlines serve BKK from NYC and that the fares are a touch cheaper.
What's the weather usually like in LoS in late January through March?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

The flights will be the clincher.

As Petesie alludes to, no probs with finding accommodation & all that remains is your flight? Can't help you on that one I'm afraid but having sampled a Boston winter myself when living in Cambridge, Mass I know you shall be super keen to get away from all that snow

As far as hotels, this site is an excellent source for what's good and close to the action (not that it's difficult to find in Pattaya!) and ask questions here also. Everybody here is very helpful and wants you to have a good experience. And believe me, if you don't have a good time, it's because you chose to. In LOS, it really is "up to you".

My Man, have a look at orbitz.com for flights. I did a test flight for you, theoretically departing BOS on Jan 15, and returning 3 weeks later, about Feb 7. The total price, round trip, on several carriers averaged $1500 and change. These are excellent prices, and if i were you i'd jump on it.
As the others have said, the weather will be fantastic.
Go for it!.....but be ready for the jetlag.

Jetlag...I have the Ladyboys suck that outa me.
That plan didn't work when I went to Amsterdam. Was hella jetlagged, took me about a day and a half to get over it and be functional. (Unless ladyboys have special magic in that regard that GGs don't...nobody in the Bloedstraat really caught my fancy.)
On trips within North America and from North America to Europe, supposedly going west-to-east is worse. Not sure how that adds up with a 12 hour time difference between EST and Bangkok, and a 24-hour plane ride with a couple of stops. I did know someone who went to India for a month and took about a week to become un-jet-lagged when she got back.

Damn it seems like the high season is a thing of the past, its more like a high month nowadays. I'm on deck for a trip sometime before spring. I'll be flying out of JFK. Probably in February. I just keep checking flights, China airlines and china eastern has the cheapest flights about 1100-1200, but I envision that being steerage with a bunch of winkies and chicken feet.Mid January thru to late March is IMO quite definitely the best time of the year to be in Thailand, peak season is over and the weather is at its best before the hot season kicks in.

Read carefully, I said "peak season" which is generally recognised as being the Christmas/New Year period of mid Dec thru mid Jan.
High season of course carries on for about another three months until after Songkran in April.

I deal with that same 12-hour timezone change.
I've learned to just expect night #1 to be amazing. (Adrenaline, excitement, anticipation, sensory overload, horniness).
Then, experience about 4 to 5 days of melancholy ranging from slight irritation to suicidal despondency.
After that, all's good.
