My research suggests Bangkok the weekend of 14th and 15th with normal business resumed on Monday 16th, while Pattaya usually lasts a week culminating on Thursday 19th April.

Not an expert, and experiencing it firsthand this year, I think PT has it down. But it may be that the BKK gets going on the 13th.

Either way, it kinda sucks that these two cities, so closely located, can't coordinate their holidays. I've got an entire week off that finishes the week before the Pattaya shenanigans begin. Awesome.

Amazing Thailand...

Avoid the place like the plague during Sonkran if you want to relax and enjoy a holiday in LoS...I remember years ago staying in a nice hotel where on checking in they sprinkled some scented rose water on you from a bowl and dabbed your cheecks with some flour and that was optional and only for one day... :D

Roaming gangs of hooligans with water cannons for a week is not my idea of a holiday. :tantrum:
