I'm in BKK now for my first (and sure not to be the last) lb trip.

Just wanted to say thanks to the BMs. I've been lurking on this site for a while now in preparation. I must say that the advice on the site has been spot on and has made my trip super smooth and enjoyable thus far.

One finding I can share: I decided to stay at the Park Plaza because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor and, according to the map, proximity to both Nana and Soi Cowboy. While the the hotel is great and is guest-friendly, the location is a farther from Nana than I'd expected. The walk back from Nana is probably a full 15 minutes and could be a mood-killer for you and your new friend.

Great to hear another guy take the plunge of that first Thai trip! And even better to see a long time lurker posting. Hopefully this isn't the last we will see of you on the site.

I always like the walk along Sukhumvit Rd post midnight, it's such a crazy places, incomparable to anywhere else I've ever experienced. That said, once you have your date I'm sure the hotel is only a short 50bht taxi ride away.
