Cypriots and Turks are the same in all ways. Uncultured, classless ignorant brutes.
As kids we're not taught how to deal with success; we're taught how to deal with failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. If at first you succeed, then what?

As usual Costas, your comments are severely misguided and wholly inacurate. Northern Ireland now operates self rule under it's own assembly at Stormont.
Furthermore....and this is funny
There are over twice as many British Troops stationed on Cyprus as there are in Northern Ireland

But hey, don't take my word for it

along with the 3300 british troops we get 2 million of british tourists as well and that keeps our economy strong.no recesion yet.thanxs for the british pound.final conclusion from the ministry of finance for 2008 is 3% economic grouth.i think only 2 countries will have achieved that in the EU this year Cyprus and Slovenia.Rest of the EU is on recession plus anemployment.Godd luck for you guys out there who are loosing their jobs and houses over the recession. :D :D :D :D :D

Costas dear chap, you indiscriminately jump from one subject to another in order to suit your own agenda.
Now, please be a good boy and try to keep on topic.

Ok......Current Exchange Rate Situation !

Nice to see the pound sterling making a slight recovery the last few days as my winter in Thailand approaches, maybe I shall be generous with the lady drinks after all

In the Nation there have been a few articles about what Thailand may expect from the fall out of the US markets.

Unlike the West, who are consumer addicts, the majority of Thais have a simpler lifestyle so importation of luxury goods is lower - not many plasma TV's in Issan!

Thailand may consider devaluation. They do not necessarily want a strong Baht as it discourages foreign investment/tourism.

Unemployment will rise as available workforce increases by 70,000. The majority of Thais are employed in agriculture.

There is no social benefits in Thailand so unemployment does not 'cost' the Government directly

Thailand continues to be self sufficient in food stuffs and is a major exporter of rice.

In some ways their economy is better positioned to stave off the impact of the West as they are not as consumer orientated.

Interesting that Koffi Annan was on CNN. He stated

The USA 700 billion dollar bale out EXCEEEDS ALL the aid given to Africa in the last decade.

For me that put the numbers in perspective. I believe all those banking execs should have bonus contracts terminated and take a salary cut until they recover the mess they put the world into.

Lehman Brothers, in 2007, reported record profits and revenues. 8 months later three execs leave with 18 million dollars in termination bonus. 3 days later the company is bankrupt.

Does no one in the US demand answers to some basic questions.

The whole world is paying the prie by poor management in the US banking system - these execs feel no pain as they are multi millionaires.

i want the pound sterling to be strong again, maybe 2/3 years ago was getting 70/73 baht for 1 pound, then it roughly sat in the mid 60's, which is ok, if it does not improve from the low 50's, then i will not be back untill it does
