So has anyone heard anything more about the re-opening, I saw that most carriers had rejected the opening for International and Domestic flights and that only Nok, AirAsia and One-Two-Go domestic were going to move and then I read Thai Airways had capitulated and would move its Domestic flights back to Don Muang.

Cannot say it makes me happy as half my visits I normally switch to a domestic flight to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai to see friends and they say transfers will need 4-5hrs now instead of the 60-75mins. (Not the sort of thing you want after 14-18hrs of traveling already.)

Although I do miss the old airport it did have character :D

I also read the miltary was trying to open it as early as next month! Which would be interesting.

It's definitely gonna reopen sometime in March according to a recent Bangkok Post article when it shall serve non connecting domestic flights plus all of Air Asia's services however, with this goverment plans soon change and many go out of the window.

I suppose I should look on the brightside and use this as an excuse to always stay in Bangkok at least one night when I arrive before tripping North and the same when I return. or for that matter another reason on arrival to head to Pattaya.
