Hi guys 2 more visits yo LOS 4 days in Jan (Pattaya) & 4 days in March Patong. In after all my visits its the first time im venturing to Patts. Primarily because. I am a bit overwelhmed with the variety. I cant make up my mind if there is a sensory overload.
Any way this Jan trip came out of the bloom and since my flight reaches early in the morning i decieded to take a plunge and go to patts instead of Bangkok.
For a first timer in Patts every thing seems spread out compared to bkk venues. I was initially planning to book some hotel near soi 12. So its convieniently placed. I also read Baby Boom and La Bamba have guest rooms but Im not sure if its a good idea to book them. Can any seniors based in patts help out. As a first timer if i bring lb from outside to these guest houses will it be taken well with the inhouse lbs?

Pattaya is really easy to get around with their cheap and efficient baht bus system, so don't worry. Do a google search and you'll find information on what the buses (pickup trucks with bench seats and a awning) look like and how to use them.

I'd probably steer away from a guesthouse room associated with a bar, not so much for the reason you state, but for the quality of the room. I think you can find a better room at a regular hotel.

I say that without even looking at the rooms you are talking about, so take that into consideration.

The concern you have about the bar staff pressuring or pestering you to not go elsewhere, may or may not be an issue. It probably depends more on how you handle yourself.

I seriously doubt it would be a big problem as long as you keep a smile on your face and do what you want.

If you are passive and they feel like they can manipulate you to spend your time and money on them, they will.

My advice is to get a hotel room.
