I got extremely frustrated with my windows desktop which was overloaded with junk and had become almost unusable. After being repeatedly hounded by a mac fan boy to buy a mac book I finally decided to make the move, spending $3k on a MacBook pro with most of the bells and whistles.
The first thing I decided to do was to try the Apple multimedia experience to see how impressive it really was. I tried to play a video file (extremely common file type although I cant recall which one) and OS X didn't have a clue what to do with the file. Ended up having to download VLC player to watch the video, and in all honesty it was no better than a pc.
The next thing I tried was investigating what software was available to use with a USB GPS receiver and despite there being half a dozen prospective windows based programs, there was absolutely nothing for the mac. I then decided to investigate running windows software in the os x environment and the highly talked up ability of os x to do so proved to be very disappointing indeed. One program I installed jumped up and down on the taskbar when I tried t open it and that was the sum total of its functionality.
I wanted to get a fancy multi-button programmable mouse and after finding the perfect one, then went on to find out that there was no support for os x. I also had to buy a scientific calculator for university and noticed that the software used for firmware updates was windows only.
I thought I'd partition the hard drive and run win 7 alongside os x. Even though the laptop was only a few weeks old, the data had been distributed across the hard drive in such a way that I couldn’t get a continuous free section big enough to install windows. I then installed software to run windows inside of os x but found running windows software to be very glitchy, every program I used had that "not quite right" behavior.
I decided to reinstall os x to allow me to partition the drive and install windows. The software in windows seemed to run ok, certainly no serious problems, although it became a pain to be switching between operating system based on what software I wanted to use. There were times when I need both running.
A lot of people make out that OSX is far easier and nicer to use. I think it may be a little easier but certainly not a lot easier. I eventually became so tired of dealing with the mac that I had another look at my problematic desktop. I zero filled the drive, reinstalled windows and all the software I needed and it ran flawlessly, well as flawlessly as a freshly installed copy of windows can.
The mac sat on the floor unused and gathering dust for months, I decided to sell it, so less than 12 months after paying three thousand odd dollars for it I sold it for market value which was just under fifteen hundred. All in all, the whole mac experience was shit from start to finish, and I'll never buy another one again, not until mac has the freedom of choice for software and hardware that windows has anyway.
Macs are probably good if you're doing the things that they support properly, but if you want to venture off the well-worn software path and try something in a specialized or obscure field, forget about mac and stick with windows.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think that anyone who blindly touts mac as THE answer to ALL people are behaving very irresponsibly and could be steering someone into a costly error. I do find it interesting that I now know more people who had bought a mac and then gone back to windows than those who have made the change and stayed. For what it’s worth, I'm not an Apple hater, I have owned an iPhone which I thought was ok (Xperia Z1 currently though and quite happy with it), I just dislike the software and hardware limitations of apple computers.

I've never bothered with Apple products ever since I made enquiries about an iPod years ago, only to discover you had no freedom to upload your own mp3s onto it unless I signed-up for some Online Apple storage thing. Fuck that, glad I didn't buy it.
I enjoy the freedom which comes from personal choice and sadly iAnything fails in that department. I simply haven't been interested in iProducts ever since the iPod. They often look ok, but that's where it ends for me.
I doubt I'd ever buy a tablet either, regardless of who made it.

Have been researching a fair bit & am interested in surface pro 3 tablet & couple of other options for phones including sony . I know its a very subjective topic & personal likes/needs vary greatly . Just wondering what others maybe using ( other than apple) ..
I notice Samsung seems to be very popular with our ladyboy friends .

Did you try reinstalling iOS?
I don't like how the latest dictionary behaves in autocorrect. It remembers words you've previously typed and if you've misspelled a word previously sometimes it will replace with the wrong word.
Otherwise, I still like my iPad.

About the mouse, Mac doesn't utilize the the right mouse button like PCs do. You have to get accustomed using command keys or using the toolbars. So I'm not surprized your multi button mouse wasn't supported.
I switch between using a Mac and PCs several times a day, so it does get frustrating when I forget which type of machine I'm on.
The program that jumped up and down in the toolbar sounds familiar. I had that happen the other day and thought my program didn't launch, but it was running behind something else I had open.
If you keep clicking, it will open multiple copies of it in the background.
Macs and PCs are different; however, after using both on a daily basis for the past year, I don't think one is particularly any better than the other.
Although I will agree about the greater availability of softerware for PCs.

The issue wasn't that it was running in the background, it just wouldn't launch at all. The little icon on the toolbar would jump up and down and that was all it would do.
I learned the hard way about software running in the background. Hadn't had the mac long and thought I'd hop onto this very website then thought I had closed safari when I was done. The parents came over to check out the new computer so I opened up safari and to my absolute horror there was the main page to LB-69. Got out of that program as quick as lightning, I was never really sure if the parents realized the exact flavor of porn site but it's something which doesn't get talked about.

That is so funny. Holy cow! My old man would have endlessly teased me about that.
The browser history on my iPad makes me nervous sometimes. I never take it out when I go to my hometown to visit family for that very reason.

Ipad performing a tad better now , did a reset . Not liking the latest iOS upgrade though to be honest .The iOS update a couple of months ago caused mine to be very unstable, but they came out with a patch two days later that fixed it.
Did you try reinstalling iOS?

I always use incognito mode in Chrome when looking at porn. No history is logged so when chrome is closed it's like it never happened.
