We average 80~100 a day here in Japan, not helped by the insurance companies paying out out huge dividends to the family afterwards. If they do it under a train, a popular method in Tokyo, the family are billed for disruption damages, as well as cleaning the train and platform.
There is an excellent documentary here by Rene Duignan, on suicide in Japan, but it can apply to other countries too...
