As a result of not participating in the main event in Pattaya (for commercial reasons) we ran our own low key event in Patong and coupled it with a Beauty Contest, in order to raise some funds to continue supporting the Life Home Project in Phuket.

This is basically a refuge for orphans of kids who are affected by, or infected with HiV.

Today, 27th November 2014, i went across to the Project together with our lawyer, Sam, who is a Trustee, and a delegation from Tootsies Massage/Bar who have actively supported our endeavours this year.

This is the charity box and an envelope containing 23,000 baht donated by kind BMs from here and the other forum, just prior to departure to Ko Sire, near Phuket Town

In appreciation, the Trustees had already prepared plaques for our respective bar walls

Publicity shot at the main gate. We'd like to hope the media pick up on a few pics that have been sent to them

The money laid out ready for counting

The Project provides a tranquil place for the kids.

The kids were at school so we were unable to mingle with them this year, unfortunately. But actually Sam told us that they don't want them too much in the spotlight anyway: firstly as its a legal requirement to protect their identities, and secondly they don't want the place to become a tourist attraction like some sort of zoo.

Nam (Tootsies) was very moved by the whole place

And the old shabby showers have all been renovated

and new wash basins

And so......

back to the business of opening the box and counting the money

A grand total of 38,908 Bt was donated.

The certificates and plaques will be on the walls of Tootsies & C & Ds tonight.

Obviously we only raised a fraction of the money that came back with us from Pattaya last year, but the manager and Trustees were delighted.

As they said: its one thing to renovate the place to being a decent, well maintained, quiet refuge where the kids are safe, protected and fed (mission accomplished). Its quite another paying for all the support staff needed to keep the place going, and your contributions have most definitely helped in that respect.

With Tootsies now firmly on board, and collection boxes in both bars i hope you will continue to support our efforts to assist a very worthy cause in the place where you enjoy your holidays, and with a disease so near to our hearts.

My life has gone in crazy turns since retiring (not necessarily bad but different). Jimbo is a hero and Rossco too! Two men (and add Tootsie's and all of the bars) that realize there's more to life than profits! And I hope their profits go up exponentially for their humanity. (Did I really use the word humanity? Yeah, well deserved!)

I always said to Rossco he was bonkers doing it every year. Must be exhausting beyond belief !

It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't get some fuckwit or other suggesting you're helping yourself to the funds!

No unfortunately on another forum certain allegations have been made against Rossco. Baseless and the mentality of those making those allegations is certainly lacking.

That's a shame.

Many charities face such claims, the only thing that organizers can do is to be transparent with their books.
