Violence against ladyboys

The amount of trouble they cause when on leave is shameful, and this isn't the first time a Marine has gotten drunk and beaten another person to death.
I love the Marines, when we go to war I'm damned glad that they are on our side, but they sure as hell have trouble behaving themselves.
The amount of trouble they cause that doesn't make it into the newspapers is astronomical, it usually involves trashing bars or hotel rooms when they fight each other. Unfortunately, killing a host country national seems to happen at least once per year.
I have no problem predicting that the Marine was in a drunken stupor when this happened.
EDIT:
I just read my post again, and I want to make it clear that I am not trivializing this person's death. I'm outraged over it.
I have seen this same scenario happen way too many times with U.S. Service members in Japan, Korea, Philipines, and the USA.
I think it is probably more of a case of senseless alcohol fueled violence than it is violence directed at a transgender.

I only today realized who the murdered ladyboy was, I had known her for some time. She was was such a nice person, I can't imagine how someone could purposely kill her.
Not too speculate too much on what took place, I will say that Jenny was a very cool and chilled person, very much drama free from my experiences with her.
I don't think this incident is a good example of a rise in violence in the Philippines. After all, it is the local who is the victim here, and this is a somewhat rare event.

Just for sake of clarity, are you assuming the murder would not take place if she was a GG ? Are you assuming he killed her out of disappointment...?
At present none knows the reason, but usually it takes a little more to take away somebody else'life
But probably my interpretation is wrong.....if so, I apologise
Cheers
Yes, was just wondering if that was his reason.
It seems possible a mad, drunk, marine might murder someone.
I hear that on boards, interviews, and just chatting with Lbs.
Customers don't know, or are fooled, and get mad.
There's an interview on youtube with the Pattaya Emma/Amy talks about how many guys don't know, most just pay and ask her to leave, but at least 1 got violent.

..violence in the Phil., it's so common there it's hardly mentioned outside of the Phil. unless it's a high ranking politician or celebrity, it's becomming too common in Patts now too if you see the online Pattaya news...

I don't think these are a good example of a rise in violence towards foreigners, in all three stories the foreigner seems to blame. (drunk in the 1st and 3rd story, and wielding a knife in the 2nd), it's a better example of the class of foreigner Pattaya attracts.
I've probably spent a total of 5 years in Pattaya over the past 9 and have never been in any serious danger or had any violence against me (at least none which I didn't request and then have to pay for..). Over the years I've seen a lot of fights but very few which didn't involve a very drunk foreigner or disgruntled bar girl.
Sit on Walking Street all night and you will see a few brawls, and yeah, some young Thais will enjoy an excuse to fight, but sit outside a busy pub or club in London on a Saturday night and you'll probably see as many scuffles. From my experiences you have a far better chance of being attacked without provocation in most UK city centers than in Pattaya.

The PH. DFA has served summons on the murder suspect and 3-4 fellow marine witnesses to the USA embassy, who in turn will bring them to Olongapo court on Oct. 21 to answer the charges.

An update on the main story (the murder of Jennifer Laude), it's interesting how the BBC report on the story, referring to Jennifer as a woman, consistently referring to her as MS and only later noting that she was a transgender woman - more as a side note rather than a feature of the piece. So many of the other stories I read on this from a variety of different media and countries referred to Jennifer as a male and made a point of noting that her real name was Jefferey Laude, and using the fact he was transgendered as the main angle of the story.

It's also great to see the story get so much attention globally. I remember reading an articles a few years back about how gay hate crimes had dropped dramatically over the last decade, a fact which was being celebrated at the time, while transgendered hate crimes had increased.= and not much was being said about it,
