Think the marine knew she was a ladyboy before getting to the room in the Subic murder?

Violence against transgenders (for both mtf and ftm) is unfortunately all too common worldwide - here's an article from the Huffington Post that goes into the subject more and a project that is attempting to track statistics in hopes of preventing future attacks.

Just for sake of clarity, are you assuming the murder would not take place if she was a GG ? Are you assuming he killed her out of disappointment...?
At present none knows the reason, but usually it takes a little more to take away somebody else'life

But probably my interpretation is wrong.....if so, I apologise

Cheers

It seems a little strange to say that The Philippines has gotten more violent when the suspect is an American serviceman.  Apart from that, I also agree with Tourist that you are assuming that the victim was killed just because she was a ladyboy.  It probably is the case, and as you say, it's important for transgenders to reveal the truth prior to entering a motel room.  Not that there is any excuse for murder, or any sort of violence, but it would certainly would help if everything is up front from the start.

Yes Macman, I did not mean that foreigners are the reason for rise in violence, the Philippines has an alarming rate of domestic violence. When it does involve a foreigner, the PH society falls upon him and want to lynch him. I'm sure the exact reason will come out but no matter what, a life was lost.

I don't want to belabor the point, but as regards transsexuals, it is my experience here in The Philippines that most Filipinos have an extremely tolerant attitude. Domestic violence is everywhere, and has always been around.  I don't think the Philippines has any more (or less) than, for instance, the U.S., and certainly far less than places like India and Pakistan.  In my comment above, I meant that you can hardly say that there is a rise in violence here when it is a foreigner who is committing those acts.
