My 2 satang worth...

I have a tendency to plan...do the leg work, follow threads, PM a few BMs, review the reviews, photos and the web, check locations, prepare schedules, phone numbers, hotels, bar tours, private appointments, special diets and recovery patterns, moon settings, astrology charts, google maps and google now, gps settings...okay you get my meaning I am sure...then I arrive and all these plans no matter how well prepared go out of the window...for all but unexpected reasons.

So by all means have an outline in mind and sample as widely and as safely as you possibly can but be aware that while men make plans God is laughing!!!

Best advice someone here once gave me? Get here, Plan nothing, Go with the flow.
Second best advice someone here once gave me? Have plenty of lube and even when you have plenty have some more.

Cheers
ZZ

I would say not to spend too much of your valuable holiday in Bkk. Just another big sprawling city. A couple of days would suffice. Then book 6 or 7 days in Pattaya and see how you get on. Leaving the last few days free to decide whether to try somewhere else, extend Pattaya, or return to Bkk. Internal flights are very easy, and not too expensive even in December.

4 days 3 nights in BKK to see the sights then plan on being in Pats for the rest of your stay. If at any point during your time in Pattaya you want to leave just head back to BKK or maybe a night on Koh Larn with the companion of your choice to clear your head. IMHO

Usually, i also stay in LOS for 2 weeks. I have been around the country, i have been to some islands,...In your case, i would stay 3-4 days in BKK, if you want to visit the city itself. If not, 2 will be enough, just to visit some bars.

Some people i know dont like bkk, but i find it fun: some malls, Wat Pho, the Royal Palace, Chatuchak on week-end, even Patpong (night market and bars, why not.), Nana. I like the vibe in BKK. Thats why my 2014 trip (in 2 weeks!!) will be like that too, even if i wont need to visit Patpong, or Wat Pho-Royal Palace anymore.

However, i have to agree that Pattaya should be your "core business" about the ladyboy scene.

Next time, maybe you should try (also) other places, like Phuket or Samui and skip BKK, if u had enough this time.

Almost go-time!  Thank you all for the information.  If you're going to be in Bangkok starting on the 23rd (Dec) and Patts from the 29th and want to grab a beer, send me a PM.

I tend to hate planning in too many places as in a short trip of 2 weeks you don't want to spend a day or two in a bus or train. IF your main thrust (pun intended) is ladyboys, Pattaya as they have said EXCEPT that there are SO MANY and in so many places there it might be a bit daunting. Don't feel bad if you spend the first half in Bkk, getting rid of jetlag and getting used to the Thai experience. Darkside and Nana are both just off Sukhumvit and that's got the Skytrain running along it for trips up to midnight. You really ought to experience Nana, especially the Nana parade when the bars let out, end of night. For 700 baht you can get a nice room at Da Bed, right on Soi 4 a block or two from Nana Entertainment Plaza. Save ya on short time room expense too. IF possible lock stuff away or at least HIDE most of yer cash, I don't wanna read another "i took a freelancer, who drugged me and took 20,000 baht and all my stuff".  Cab from airport should be around 350. The girls at the sidewalk bar mostly go with no barfine and there are some fine ones. Check out Check In Bar. You can hit Soi Cowboy at Asoke in a maybe 20 minute walk down Sukhumvit. See some sights along the way, Cockatoo bar has ladyboys. Mostly it's GG but fun. I'd put that one last on the list IF I got to it. It is a short hop to Pattaya. I usually get a bus at Ekamai (also on Sukhumvit), couple hundred baht. Be careful at the bus station, I got my wallet lifted. First time in 7 yrs. Guy stepped in front of me making an funny face and talkin gibberish, if this happens to you clamp your hand on yer wallet and WALK hahaha.  There's more action in Patters for sure but getting around is a bear unless you have a guide.
