I just spent a couple of nights at Mosaik in Patts, never even noticed a security guy, but taking an LB in is pretty much the same as a GG in all that gay-ness :)

I recall walking through the lobby there late at night. The guard would let us in, proceed to the back of the lobby, and then through some doors into the elevator landing area. That's where i recall seeing my man, the understanding guard.

I liked the Mosaik. I felt like little Liberace in there!

Great post Larry!

You really should shed some light on the scene in your part of the world...New York as i recall?

Yes, I am in NYC. I don't hit the bars and clubs here as much I did a few years ago, as I am in a relationship now. There are a few bars/clubs that have tranny nights and there are a few Asian "girls" in the crowd but no real ladyboy clubs. The locations change fairly frequently. The TGs that attend these parties are trolling for customers. The more passable "girls" do go to the straight clubs and sometime the gay clubs when they want to just chill.  Most of the Asian transgendered folks here seem to Pilipino. We get a lot of pros touring through, they advertise on Eros and Backpages.

Larry2x, I remember that there was a club on 9th or 10th Avenue around 44th Street called "Eidelweiss" or something like that (how's that for vagueness).  I'm pretty sure that it closed  quite a while ago.  That's the only club I knew about, but I never went in.  I had found out about it through a TS that I used to frequent.  She was a pro, but we used to lie around and talk after sex.  She was very nice, but she left the P4P scene about 8 years ago.  We stayed in touch by phone for a while, and then drifted apart.  Back then, Screw Magazine (the "TV Guide" section) was how you found the P4P scene.  Another relic.

Interesting that we are talking about the Big Apple and Screw magazine.

One day, during a trip to NYC, mid-day during one hot summer, i was walking near Times Square when i came face to face with Al Goldstein, the publisher of Screw. He was chomping a stogie, sweating profusely, and waddling slowly up the street with an intense gaze. I said "Hey Al, howzit going?". He looked at me and just gave a small nod, same intense look, and continued on his way without breaking waddle-stride.

I remember thinking, "lucky bastard, got blown by Linda Lovelace".

Precious memories.

:D   Al Goldstein.  OMG.  What a piece of work he was. I remember he was having a lot of legal troubles, but I don't remember what finally happened to him.

Ahh yes Edelweiss - it was originally (or at least the first time I walked in) on west 29th Street between 6th and 7th Ave right by Penn Station. It then moved to 10th and 44th where it stayed for 10 plus years and then finally to 7th avenue by 10th street in the west village where it eventually closed for good sometime in the late 90s.. While it was on 10th Ave it was a popular cruising place. The "girls" would be going in and out of the club walking the streets giving $20 blow jobs in cars on Manhattan's west side. That area of town had (has) a lot of the mega discos and at 3AM the street was quite a scene back in the day. My first TS experience was at Edelweiss while it was on 29th street back in the 80's. I was working in an office building right above Penn station and one of my office mates had tickets to a concert at Madison Square Garden , (The Grateful Dead lol) which is also directly above Penn Station so I went. I ended up taking an unexpected dose of LSD, which was no problem but after the show I was still looped and was walking around the streets at the wee hours. Well I found myself in Edelweiss talking to a little TS dressed like a Barbra Eden from I Dream of Jennie, pony tail and all. We fooled around in the bar and I had a blast. Because I was so high I was not sure what was real and what was imagined but I knew something good went on. So I decided to go back sober the following week to see what was up - well it was real and I was hooked.

As for Al Goldstein I used to see him at Plato's Retreat way back when. He would walk around in a towel with his ever present cigar. He was a train wreck then its amazing he lasted as long as he did. Screw magazine and Mr Goldstein had some legal troubles and stopped publishing but eventually went to an online format. I think now your best internet options for finding TS P4P in NYC are Eros-Guide and Back pages. I always recommend checking your selected provider on The Erotic Review and then goggling both her name and telephone numbers separately to see what comes up (pardon the pun).

I liked the Mosaik too, good value for money, Why did you feel like Liberace? was there a grand piano in your room, or was it just waking up next to someone with a willy  ;) .

The one thing that freaked me was opening the curtains in the morning to be confronted with a larger than like statue of a geezer about ten feet away on the next Mosaik building.
