I was just pricing tickets from JFK to BKK and Aeroflot has the lowest fares by far, but I have such a negative view of that airline that I'd rather book a more expensive flight.

For those of you that have flown on Aeroflot before, am I being silly for worrying about the pilots drinking vodka or having my checked baggage ass-raped.

I'll never forget that YouTube video of passengers on the Aeroflot flight that had to subdue a drunk pilot.

Think that there are a lot of more dangerous options around... as far as I know they have a lot of Airbus' in their fleet

Yes, the flights that I was looking at were all A-320s... I don't know if they still operate any of the Soviet era airframes like the IL-62 or the TU-154.

I wasn't too thrilled about a layover in Moscow and having my bags ransacked or being unlucky enough to get a drunk pilot.

It's not the matter of Airbus vs IL or TU, it's the matter of maintenance. If an airline tries to save money by spending less on maintenance (fake parts, forged inspections etc.), it doesn't matter what type of plane you have it will fall out of the sky sooner or later.

I was told the same about china, and they turned out to be fine. they flew out of schipol.

the more money you can save on your flight means more PARTY spends!!!

I worry about an airline that uses 'flot' as part of their name! I want 'fly' or 'land' not flot. MH I think has proven that 'float' is not likely!
Old, cantankerous, and sorry if I piss you off - well, not really. Just enjoy!
